Forum Software Inserting Extra Lines Between Paragraphs?

I've noticed within the last year that every time I write up a post with multiple paragraphs, 1 or more extra lines get inserted between paragraphs after posting. This results in a quite a bit of unnecessary white space in the post.

So, the first thing I do is edit my post and delete the extra line items which works but is a pain to have to do every time.

I've also noticed that more lines get inserted if I first preview the post than if I do not preview. I'm going to leave the spaces this time as an example.

Is there a solution to this issue?

I use the latest version of FireFox on an updated Windows 10 desktop PC if it makes a difference.

Thanks,

I've never noticed it before with my posts. By chance are you typing elsewhere and copy/paste over here to GJ ?

Nope. Using an up to date Windows 10 desktop running latest version of Firefox. All typing is done on the GJ site.

Edit: When I first posted this response, I left one line between the quote and my text and one line between my text and my signature. The forum inserted one extra line in both places. More get inserted if I preview the post.

Figured something out.

I've been using the Enhanced WYSIWYG Editor which was set up in the Edit Options section of the User CP.

It happens only when I use that editor.

If I set the default to be the Standard Editor, it does not insert extra lines.

Since I don't really need the Enhanced WYSIWYG Editor, I'll just leave it set to Standard.

I have the opposite problem when using the "List" (bullet or number) option. It deletes a line between the text and the list.

  • A
  • B
  • C

Yes, there is a blank line between the text and the list.

I've reverted to Enhanced WYSIWYG Editor.

The other modes do not have Emogies (sp?).

When you are in edit mode, in the top right hand corner of the window is a button with two "A"s. Pressing that button switches editor modes. Not sure if this will help you but maybe you can leave it in standard mode and then hit that button when you need to insert something else. But, using Standard mode I have no problem using Smilies like this one:
