I need a lil bit of help please, my lathe has a on off switch about knee high from the floor if for any reason I get into trouble there's no way I could turn it off: I have a drum switch but I don't know how to wire it.
my motor is a 2 hp baldor frame#145T 220 volt, I got the switch from ebay no user friendly directions came with it.
im going to try and post a picture of it here. any help will be greatly appreciated
before I forget ... my motor will run in either direction according to data plate

Doug, I don't know if it will be helpful but I did a small video on wiring up a drum switch for a Rockwell lathe. Maybe it will be of help.

I had to do this a few years ago. I did a search on Google for wiring a drum switch. There will be lots of schematics and info available.

There are variations of drum switches. You're going to have to verify the contact/wiper arrangement of your switch and then the wiring configurations of the motor for both forward and reverse. Once you have that data then its just a matter of configuring the the connections. Can you post up brand and model number of both motor and switch?
