There is an auto dealer in Nashville that went out of business, and there is an auction tomorrow.
The have two 4 post lifts, 12000 lb made by Forward Manufacuring out of Ft Worth Tx. It is 11ft wide x 15-5" long and has rolling jacks on it.

They have a bunch of 2 post 9000 lb lifts by Wheeltronic WH-9 symetrical (google turns up Snap On?).

Does anyone have any knowledge of either of these two? What to expect them to auction at?

auctions are a great way to get things, just do your homework first.. the last auction i went to, i got about 180 4x12 sheets of 1/2 inch insulation for $260.00.. about an $1800.00 deal at home depot... in fact i'm heading to another auction this weekend.. good luck

If they are in a dealership, they are likely decent units, check to see if they are single or three phase electrical. Before you bid, find out who is responsible for dismantling and removal, they may not let you do it because of WCB/liability issues, also don't forget to factor in transport and set up at your shop.I wouldn't pay more than about 500 for the two posts and 1000 for the four post with the jacks,if you have to pay for all the above extras, you may not be getting such a bargain.

A new 4 post is $2200-$3000 retail and rolling jacks (BP units) are $1500 retail. If it's a good unit and you can dismantle, transport and set up, I'd go as high as $2000 for it.

As for the two-posts, similar pricing, but they are more finicky to move and reset without problems. Anyone else with better 2 post experience?

The are 230/1 so voltage is not an issue. I have to dismantle them myself, they have a fork lift to load. (have 5 days to actually get it.) The jack trays are included.

I was thinking $1000 max bid maybe $1200 (have to remember the 10% buyers premium as well). If I had to go to $2000, for a little more I would just buy the new 9000 lb 4 post lift of my choice with a warranty!

Wonder what this sucker weights? I have 7200 lb trailer with a 16ft bed. The lift is about 15'-6".

The 2 post won't fit in my shop. I have a extra high area, but it is only about 10 ft wide at 12 ft high. The lift sits 12 ft wide at 12 ft high.

You'll have to let us know what they well for. There is a similar auction happening here in a couple weeks.

All the lifts were 9000lbs, either Challenenger or Wheeltronic brand, symetrical. They went from $ 1000 to $1300 each. There were 32 or so lifts total.

There were 2 four post lifts, both Forward Manufacturing 1200 lbs, each with two rolling jacks. The shorter one was 15'-5" and looked to have bettter jacks and went for $2700. That same guy bought about 8 of the Wheeltronic lifts as well. I bowed out at $ 2000. Above $2000 there were only two bidders.

The longer one was 17', and I got it for it $ 1800.00 Only one other bidder on it. I guess it was just to long for the other guys. Should have it installed some time on Friday. Then I can clean it up a bit! More than I wanted to pay but after talking to several people and looking at what new without rolling jacks would cost me, I can live with it.

We talked to the new owner that was having the auction, and he said these prices are what he expected to see. He said (not me) that by the time he buys a new lift like these two posts and has them installed, they run him $3500 to $ 4000.

Yah, if that other guy had not been there, I would have had it for $1000.00!
I was not going over $ 1800, and I thought he was going to out bid me.

That lift will outlive you... I bought a used Weaver years ago and it's a tuff lift... much better than anything under $3500.00 these days.
