I picked this up today. I cannot make out the model number. Does anyone know which one this might be? Thanks!

Great find!

That is Columbian's stadard fixed base machinist vise--the 500 series.

The width of the jaws will tell you the model number:

3" jaws = No. 503
3.5" jaws = No. 503 1/2
4" jaws = No. 504
4.5" jaws = No. 504 1/2
5" jaws = No. 505
6" jaws = No. 506

Wilton still makes an ubdated version of the Columbian 500 series by the way.

I found it at a local body shop. The vise has 4" jaws so according to Buck Henry it must be a 504. I'm making a stand for it. Thanks for the info!

not sure if it's the same, but i had one like that that had 604 stamped in that little raised part on the side. It was also a 4"...Had 504 on a couple other parts

I have a 503 1/2 M which I bought new for a Christmas present for me. The model number is stamped on it somewhere, pardon me if i don't got out in the ice to check on it now.

Great vises. The slide is machined instead of being stamped for a close fit into the body of the vise.

A 604 would be a swivel base model. The 600 series are just 500 series vises setting on top of a swivel base so the parts are the same.
