There was another one posted on here a long time ago and the consensus was that they are pretty rare and probably bring a pretty penny.

Id sell it to some fool who will pay big money for it and go out and buy more tools with the money. Never could see a reason to collect tools and not use them.

Ah to sell or collect??????? To each his own. I personally would show it off for a while then sell it for a nice profit. Then on to the next thing.

Well i got it because I was on my way to canadian tire to buy a mastercraft 3/8 just to use around the garage. This was about the same price as a new china ratchet so i bought it. Not sure if it has been used or not the body has wear but the drive doesn't, it has a chrome drive and pawl(sp?) is this another feature of the demo thing? All my other So ratchets have black or phosphate looking parts.

It is simply a demonstration ratchet that dealers used to show customers the internal mechanism of the new sealed head 800 series ratchets.

It is not meant to be used as it has a plastic cover plate.
If you wish to use it it would be a good idea to replace the cover plate with the regular metal one.
Replacement metal cover plates for it are not available from Snap On but a dealer may have one from a warranty, etc.

Probably your best bet would be to sell it to a collector and take the proceeds and buy a ratchet you could use like a Dual 80.

Snap On likes to use clear plastic on their demonstration tools.

Here is a clear plastic demonstration impact.

lol When I 1st seen it, I thought you took the cover off. Like others alluded to, I wouldn't use it because the clear plastic will wear out quickly. Keep it as a conversation piece, it will never go down in value
