Damn, that's a nice find. COO is Japan according to the pics in the ad. I wonder who made them for Sears.

Blue prints/drawings/tool cabinets - $50 (Van Nuys)

$50 each is pretty good for around here. These ones have the good ball bearing slides.

"I have two all metal industrial / commercial quality stacking flat file cabinets. These are Metal flat file drawer cabinets for storing CAD plan drawings, vellum sheets, blueprints, art graphics, maps, large oversize drafting documents, etc. They are sized for architectural E-1 drawings - 30" x 42". They would also be good for storing tools and / or parts. Exterior dimensions are approximately 48" wide, 36" deep, and 34" high (two stacked together). I had planned to use these for tool storage, but I don't have the room in my garage.

They've been sitting out in the weather for about three years, but I have thoroughly cleaned them up with a shop vac, a scrub brush, detergent, and a pressure washer and they are nice and clean now. There is a fair amount of surface rust, some paint has come off, and there is packing tape bonded to the paint that can't be removed without harsh chemicals and / or aggressive scraping. Either way, the paint comes off with the tape. But the inside of the drawers is in very good shape.

The drawers all work very well, opening and closing very smoothly. You might want to apply a bit of WD40 or silicone lubricant I have most of the dust covers and the clips they install with. I don't have the metal base, but you could make something that would work equally well from 2x4 or 2x6, or other materials depending on what you want. Or you can just put them on blocks in your garage.

New, these can cost well over $1,000 each:

I'm letting these go for just $50 each due to the rust and paint damage. They are still in very good mechanical condition.

The cabinets are still outside on my driveway, but now securely covered with blue tarp to keep them clean and keep moisture, leaves, dirt, and insects out.

King Seeley Craftsman 150 drill press with low RPM gears option. $100 (Los Angeles)

This guy is selling two drill presses, one is #100 model and the other is the desirable #150 bench top with multi-speed/slow-speed pulley. It's been for sale for a while because of bad description but if you can get the 150 for $100, I would jump on it.

Another great find by macgee
Keep 'em coming.
The "vari-slo" option if complete could be resold for more than the entire cost of the drill press.
Here is one that recently brought almost $200 on eBay.

Gotta love that big meatball in the front.
Reeds are among the very best but I believe that model has non replaceable jaws so check them out before laying down your cash.
If the jaws are good and there are no cracks or repairs, the $70 is a good deal price for my area (I would buy it if it was in my neighborhood) but maybe a bit high for back there, I don't know.

The ones he posted are not vari-slow, just a 3rd step pulley.

Thanks for the additional information. I imagine that the 3rd step pulley must have some offset type of arrangement to adjust tension as the belts are moved to different positions. If it wasn't so far away, I would go check it out.

Beautiful examples of the Industrial Revolution. Shame that it will probably go to the scrapyard. Hopefully someone will come and save them.

I wanted to save them but the logistics of moving them to Oklahoma are out of my realm.

the building they are in is for sale also, not listed yet, if anyone wants to save these machines and open a machine shop in Dixmont, ME. Apparently they belonged to a machinist who worked over 50 years at the same plant, this was his personal shop and he has recently passed.

Holy smokes, those machines are worth 500.00in scrap, are they not?
Not that I'd want to

I think that would be a negative.

Cast iron is $195/ton so it would have to weigh 5000 lbs then add the cost of delivery it to the scrapyard. Price goes way down if they pick it up so I would say not really but they are really big. Bummer if they did go to the scrap yard regardless of price.

Oh for sure, I'd like to have the one lathe, it was big, but not as big as the others.

Those are awesome. Look a bit heavier than my Oliver 20C. I moved that with rented Roll-A-Lifts and it wasn't too bad. A roll-back wrecker can get it on your truck/trailer at one end and off on the other.

Fantastic deal, but realize that both units have three-phase motors. Certainly not a deal breaker (especially at this price), just be forewarned.

Yeah, with the heavy manufacturing base here, we see a lot of three phase stuff on CL. There's often phase converters for sale or a lot of guys just switch to single phase motors if they can.
