That Delta is quite a pc. The Middle pc in question is for holding taller or such things that say have a good plane to clamp too and are irregular. IE a cylinder head. Also of note is the foot controlled quill feed. If per say there was an operation set up. A counter bored hole on a bunch of plates that have some heft. or are a little unwieldy. The operator can grab said pc with both hands on it, compete operation with foot. I had the opportunity to work in a shop with a line shaft. Saw many an old machine in this old town. Very different thinking and work attitude back when. Blessed to have worked with some great Masters. Thats a great old pc. At a time of machines being self powered or electrified Line shaft equipment. Sorry bad grammer, Lots going on and typing fast.:dunno:

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. The seller never answered. Can’t blame him too much.

Reed 2C Vise $300 Southern Maryland

https://smd.craigslist.org/tls/d/chesapeake-beach-reed-2c-vise/7167340835.html

Not sure if it's a good deal

It’s definitely expensive and perhaps a little overpriced for this crowd, I would say it’s worth $200 but after owning about 30 to 40 vintage vises, this one would be one of my first choices if I could only have one vise and rarely see one with the pipes jaws, 6-1/2” jaw and weighs 85lbs. For me, it’s a better vise than Wilton bullet of equal size, it’s stronger and tunable and Wilton would cost more in that size. Nice find

Thanks for the feedback, I am no vise expert for sure. He might bargain down. It looks stout for sure.

You’re right about the quality of the Reed combination vises. As to “worth” I’d say that for a user, it is worth $300 tops. But value is in the eye of the beholder. Those C series Reeds are not found very often. I have a 1C in nearly mint condition in my collection. I paid more than that for the one size smaller model. I saw a 4C sell for over a thousand.

I’ll clarify one thing in your above post. When you said 6 1/2 inch jaw size it should be stated that the jaws themselves are 4 1/2 inches wide. The advertised maximum opening between the jaws is 6 1/2 inches.

I, like many of us here, scour craiglist looking for deals. I figured we could all post the deals that we find but dont need in one condensed thread to try to help out other members.

I think something like this format will work

Region

Location

Item

Price

Link

Location Honey Brook, PA

Item 5" Vintage Redseal Vise

Price $65

Link http://lancaster.craigslist.org/tls/3124012919.html

I hope this catches on, as I am always finding cool stuff that I have to pass up on! Please don't turn this into self promotion either!
I's say It DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:LOL
