I think the seller has been hit in the head too many times. But hey, its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, so if that someone is you, then by all means, get in the car.
For 350 bucks he better be next-day-airing it to my doorstep.
Now that I've said that, the next responses will probably say its an amazing price, and to hurry before the deal gets away.

In my area people would be asking at least $500 for that with no stand. I have almost that same exact model. The stands seem to be gold plated. The last one I saw for sale was N.O.S. and he wanted crazy money. I would just be worried you would get there and find something wrong with it. 180 miles is a long way to go if it's a dud.

It's almost impossible to find a new "real" 8" 3/4HP bench grinder these days. All of the 8" 3/4HP bench grinders you see for sale at HD, Lowes or HF are really 1/2 HP or less. You can get real 3/4HP grinders from Dayton, but you're looking at $300 + shipping.
A Baldor is a TOTL tool, and if it's labeled 3/4HP, it's going to be 3/4HP. I would say $350 is a marginal, but still an acceptable price. It's bit on the high side for what is clearly an older grinder with a lot of miles on it and 7 hours of driving. If it were $200-250 with the base and a smooth runner - I'd say that'd be a screaming deal.
Basically, I wouldn't feel ripped off buying it, but I wouldn't feel like I made out like a bandit either.

I got this grinder once, it had wheels about 2" thick and ~12" diameter, either a 3 or 5hp motor. Monsterous. A conversation piece.
The wheels while solid were seriously abused and the cost of new was something I didn't have in my budget.
But eventually I found belt & disc sanders to be a lot more efficient at doing the work of metal removal and I ended up selling it......

To me, those wheels look way too small for the grinder. (ie barely larger then the flange). They don't really look worn, they just look small.
I'd ask the seller about the wheels before making the drive. They'd be expensive to replace.
P.S. Just that stand is worth the entire price of the grinder. (if you can even find one)

I don't know anything about the collectibility of the stand, but that doesn't seem an outrageous price for what is there. I agree with others that the stones are probably past their useful life and the tool rests look a bit funky, but that wouldn't cost much to fix.

Yeah, I paid about that for a stand on eBay awhile back. I knew I was overpaying given that I could build a steel stand for a fraction of that but I wanted the original cast iron stand. For me, it was more of a decorative/collector piece than a tool for regular use, although I certainly do use it when the need arises, which is almost never for me. Bench grinders are practically obsolete for me but I've always wanted a complete Baldor setup

I think $350 is a little high, but reasonable because of the stand. The 3/4 baldor is nice and heavy but not so big that you can't move it around. 8 inch wire wheels sound like a freight train on my Craftsman 8", but hum nicely on the Baldor.
Anyway, I think it is one of the best home-shop grinders you can get before venturing into industrial territory.
Oh, and they still sell all the parts which is rare these days.

Don't think you can lose money on it at that price as long as it runs smooth.
You can always offer less when you get there if it's not up to snuff, but driving 7 hours to get it seems nuts to me.

I currently have a 1/2 hp block grinder and an 8" Wissota. The Wissota is perfect for precision grinding with a soft wheel and deburring with a nonwoven but the block craftsman has a brush and a rubber composite. It bogs down if you get anywhere near it. It's a decent grinder but even with perfect wheels it will never be good enough for precision work and it just doesn't have the power for tough jobs.

I recently bought a 12" Baldor with the stand for $160. Probably cheap because it's 3 phase, but by coincidence, I had just added a rotary phase converter to the shop. With the pedestal and wheels, the street price is north of $3000. For me, an 8" would make more sense, but I couldn't pass it up for the money. Around here, $350 for that grinder wouldn't be out of line.

The 12" are sa-weet! That's what we had in school for shaping HSS tooling. Most dangerous tool in the shop we were taught Day 1 and they were right - they're so quiet you forget they're running.
For that price any guy could throw a ~$100 VFD on it (probably even step up from 110V?...I don't recall the amperage on the 12" motor) and have a helluva deal.
Anyway OP, as stated location is everything. Baldor grinders pop up less than once a year around me. When they do, the sellers are asking gold and the tool looks like it was dropped out of a truck. So, I was psyched to pay $400 for my 8" delivered, albeit new from a random deal thru CleanItSupply that popped up in Hot Deals two years ago.
Failing that I'd have leave my peaceful 35 acres and mountain views and drive to Detroit for a deal I guess....but I'll save the gas money and days of driving thru fly-over country and have it sent to my door for what will actually cost less $ in the end.

I was eyeballing that grinder myself. There were two, with the other being a carbide grinder I think. Nice price in my opinion with the stand.
