I posted recently about a Leg Vise I found and restored on my new property. I just realized I had another gem. A Shoulder Hand Drill. It was crusty rusted solid with a broken bit still in the chuck. I had it on a shelf as a conversation piece in my outdoor bar.

I decided to give it new life. I went in with guns blazing and used Muratic Acid. All rust dissolved in minutes. Even the chuck works now. Put a new bit in it and drilled a piece of wood.. :)

One final step is needed..
Still deciding if I just want to use a coat of linseed oil on it and keep the classic weathered look or paint and try to restore like new.. Leaning towards the weathered look.

Nice! I've most often heard those types called "breast drills".

Thats right.. I could not remember that term.. Trying to identify the manufacturer. Looks like Millers Falls? The only identifying mark I found was this..

Looks like 20 and then a 1
