Found a steel tray

At Gordon's Food Service, just as was suggested. Basically, I got one of those 1500# movers carts form HF when they went on sale, added some 3/4" pipe and fittings, and put the tray on top of it all. Now I have a place to set my ****! I rigged it so that the tray is removable... you can take the whole lot to the workbench if you need to. It's a little backwoods, but it sure beats that crappy rig that I saw a Walmart before Christmas... and I'm pretty sure I have less $$$ into it.

Great idea! I think I'll do something like that. I was thinking, maybe I could put the bottom fitting on the underside of the dolly. Then drill a hole for the pipe through the dolly. That way, I could undo the pipe and still use the dolly if I need to.

Never really thought of it that way... but now I can never look at it the same way again!

BTW... the pipe is just a 36" length of 3/4" black pipe with 3/4" flanges. The whole thing can be disassembled for storage, or if I ever need the mover's dolly to actually move something, lol!

Great idea! I think I might make one as well, but out of steel. You might want to put something on the pole to avoid scuffing up your bumper.

Just get a piece of copper pipe insulation for what evere size pipe it is. It costs like a dollar and would fit prefect.

z28 is right...use pipe insulation. I've got some on my floor jack handle to prevent dents and scratches on the body of the car. Works well.

Hey nice job there!! Its nice because you can slide that thing under the car and get it "into" the engine compartment instead of a tray off to the side. Good stuff there!!!

Precisely! It is not meant to carry 100 lbs... but it will keep my tools and small parts close where I need them.

Oh... and thanks, guys, for the pipe insulation idea. Gives me an excuse to go to the hardware store tomorrow.
