Found its way home

My little Proto ratchet went awol a month or so ago. I was doubting it would ever find its way back. I had put the word out, my brother came in the other day toting it. I had bought a HF composite to replace it. I had the thing a long time, I am not sentimental about tools but I kind of missed the little guy. It got a touch of the rust on its adventure. I put it in a cozy box to recoupe.

That’s cool you got it back I have only gotten one lost tool back and have only lost 3 my whole time as a mechanic lol 2 of them have been 10mm sockets. I have found a lot of Snap-on tools.

I was giving up hope. I thought there was a different socket on it and couldn't remember where I was when it absconded. I had put the word out on it, must have been changing out a spark plug. I carried it a long time, it is tuff and reliable but rather coarse but it worked. I can't remember where I got it.

Lucky you! It's such a great feeling to find a "lost" tool It's the worst when you lose one. I was doing header gaskets and new locking bolts on my Tahoe and lost my 1/4 to 3/8 adapter. I bought a new Sunex one on Amazon. Of course, I found the one that I "lost" 2 days after the new one came.

It's stories like this... that caused three times as many tools as I need. Also a reason to organize your tools and utilize your deep seated OCD for labels...

I'm still missing some rather expensive Japanese pliers... if found... please label them and send to Pelican Pines...

I've found more than I've lost, unfortunately, those are less memorable and of what I've lost for more than just a few hours, I haven't gotten back. I lost my hammer on a jobsite doing underslab duct work, I'm sure someone scooped it up and kept it for them self as it was a craftsman. I lost the middle size of the three (in a set) craftsman pry bars when I worked in the mill and it remained gone, it was the most used as it was sized right for more jobs. I lost my 2" x 4" drill press vice I made in a manufacturing processes class back in the 90's. That may still be hidden in my garage junk somewhere from compressing the contents of my former garage, shop & shed into one smaller garage.

I wish my F80 would find it's way home. But what did I do once it walked away? Bought two more.

happened to me several years ago...lost a long Klein #2 phillips screwdriver on a job. Bought a new one, was back at that customer's building 2-3 years later and found my screwdriver sitting on a shelf!

talk about electrician and tool, the electrician left one of those sound wire tracer in my building, I keep it on the circuit breaker box, in case he ever comes back
