Found Kellogg Compressor on wheels - Ideas on size/value

I found a Kellogg somewhat local to me that I'm going to look at this morning. I don't have a model or part numbers yet, but I do have a couple of pictures. It still runs so I'll be able to check things out, but unsure of what I'm looking at regarding HP and possible CFM output.

By the pictures, it doesn't look like a 321 or 332 since it's running a single belt. I'm new to this so I could be wrong.

Is is 1 or 3 phase? Any guesses on the HP and manufacturer of the electric motor? Baldor??

It's a single phase with the capacitor bump. You wont see capacitor on 3-phase induction motor.

By the look of the setup, it's 2-3CFM @90psi at 100 max psi. What kind of work do you do?

That will be too small. It looked bigger in the pictures...lol

I hope to hunt down a 15-17cfm compressor for sandblasting, DA'ing, and general painting. I'm just trying to avoid the newer off shore stuff.

Look out for Champion 5HP model R15 (aka 3Z181) if you want a real quality pump with disc valve. Google it to see how it look if you want to hunt for a used pump.

I would skip the quincy 325 and saylor 705, it's just too heavy to handle @ 250lbs. The champion is about 125lbs.

I own a saylor 705 (clone) and I'm not really thrill of handling it. It performs like the Champion R15 but fatter and heavier. I really consider the Champion R15 to the be king of all 5HP pump, considering all aspects.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll start combing the local ads for an R15. It's not easy finding the old good stuff.

Champion still make it today and it's the only two company (Saylor Beall is the other) that still make the typical 60-80gal 5HP setup. It's sold on eBay for about $2500 brand new. Parts are cheap to buy for rebuild if needed.

Grainger still carry the R15 but they called it 3Z181 and brand it as "Speedaire".
