Looks nice Von Zipper. Appears to be in good shape. I like the design.
What year do you think it is, where did you find it, and what parts does it need?
Great score I think... congrats.

Cheers,

Depends if it works?
Umm, actually, no it doesn't. Not as much as you'd think. Petroliana collectors are willing to pay some absurdly obscene amounts of money for old pumps.

In fact, they frequently gut the works out of them so they're easier to move and place on display.

Who knew? Guess if I keep my old console tv long enough someone will think it's the cats PJ's too.

The guts were removed! they also took the computer[gears/with the numbers] out of the top. There used to be a T.V. in it! I didn't buy it for it to work.I think it's from the mid 50s and the last tax tag on it is from 1965. I plan on placing it next to the garage door and wire it up. Here's one finished.

I have two at the moment. The smaller A.O. Smith is getting sold. The larger is now IN the garage. It's hard to find a decent older pump for less than $1000 around here. $200 gets you a piece of junk, so for $200 I think you got a hell of a deal

I think you got a real good deal. I payed $300 for mine, sight unseen, and it was in poor shape. But that did allow me to hone my body work skills and it was a nice project. I love re-doing things like this....taking a POS and returning it to like new condition.

You stole that for that price, who cares if it works or not unless you going to hook it to an underground tank and the logistic's of that with permitting etc... would be mind warping, good buy IMO

Might be cool to have one outside the shop and put one of those plastic gas cans with the pump handle in it! You could gas up your lawn mower from it.

I want me a Gulf pump like Kevin has.

In the 60s, I worked at my Aunt and Uncle's store in south GA and pumped gas. They actually sold Pure gas. No glass globes on the pumps, but they were the hand wind kind.

For years I used to see the old timey ones with the glass comparment on top that you pumped the gas into and gravity flowed it out. All are now long gone.

Thanks for the encouragment! I thought it was a good deal plus a lot of them are pick up only! Mine was 2 hours away and last Sunday was crappy here, so it was a good day to go get it!! I wouldn't even think of hooking one up here!! They tax every little thing, and the EPA would probably come and take my house!!LOL!! I get my gas outside of cook county!! it used to save me 10cts a gallon, now it's 20cts!! To me this reminds me of when I used to build models, you want to add the right stuff to make it look right!! I have to get past these Christmas bills, then I can start ordering my stuff!! Here's the ones that hold my metal cars in the house! They go with the motor table!

That would be cool or better yet hook up water and see the look on your neighbors face when you stand there with a cig spraying the lawn with your
gas pump nozzle :lol_hitti

Go to WWW.OLDGAS.COM and ask away about any old gas pump.

Here is mine, I will restore it this next summer.

I saw one in the current issue (12-22-2009 to 12-28-2009) of the Tennessee Auto & RV magazine. I went to the website and found the link to this issue here:
http://auto-rv.com/OnlineMagazine/CurrentPubs.aspx

Click the dropdown, choose Tennessee and when it comes into view type in 134 at the top where the pages are listed. You'll see it on the right side of the left page. Guy says he's got all kinds of pumps and parts for them. He's in Carthage, IN.

Here's mine. Bought it at the Moultrie GA swap meet last month. Told my wife it was my Christmas present from her. Nice to get what you want. Gave $400 for it. Book says it was worth it in this condition. All the other were junk for the same money or only slightly less. It is a Tokhiem model 39 with the hose retractor built inside. Always wanted to restore one and this one is in really good shape. Still has all the guts and this baby is heavy. Anyone looking to get a pump or restore one should buy a book like the "Illustrated guide to gas pumps identification and price guide" or the "PCM guide to gas pump restoration". There are others availible, I just happened to buy these and they have been very infomative. As others have said OldGas.com has all the info and links you will need.

How's this, it's an old refrigerator with it's motor & freezer removed, I use the top part for recycling/water cans and the bottom section (where the motor was) to store antifreeze and washer fluid.
