so there is a guy who has been trying to sell this set of American forge wrenches full set I guess on craigslist. says they are USA made and he wants 50 for them. is this a good deal, are they worth it? They have the open end head like Mac tools do where they wrap right around the points of a bolt instead of just curving like my craftsman wrenches

Im not sure on there wrenches but I know at work we have a American Forge vise thats made in china. Do they say USA on them i dont really know much about them. I dont believe that style open end like the Macs and Cornwells does anything at all other then look good, the open end you want has the teeth in them like Snap on Flank drive plus. If there USA and a long pattern wrench I say thats a fair deal.

American Forge was the house brand of tools for the American Hardware/Service Star hardware co-op stores back in the 70's (and possibly later. I have one of their American Forge ratchets; it's a New Britain, and very high quality. Although not sure, I suspect the wrenches may be New Britain as well; I've got several, and like them.

However, considering the age, I'd offer the seller much lower; perhaps half.
