Chevy straight 6 used to use a slotted screw for the oil pan. No filter, used to have to drop the pan for servicing. Socket would self align on screw head preventing headaches and strong words!

Jerry...what vintage Chevy 6 used that slotted screw? :headscrat I'm not familiar with that...but I haven't wrenched much in a long time. Just curious.

Oh, I see. I guess I should have known that. I'm more familiar with really old cars than I am with today's computerized gizmo-mobiles. For example, my 1923 Hupmobile has Westinghouse brand ignition system (hard to find points, cap, or rotor at my local Napa store:thumbup:), and a gas-tank-style float gauge to check your oil level by sight. But I have never worked on a stock Chevy of that vintage. Yet when I look under the hood of my 2010 Chevy truck...I just sigh and shut it again.:(
