Found This Vintage Mac Tool Box - What Decade???

Hi guys - I couldn’t find a manufacturer date code anywhere. Anyone know the approximate age or decade it’s from?

I have the same set-up. I've always thought it was '50s vintage.

I searched all over the upper and lower boxes and I couldn’t find any Mfg. date codes. Did Mac date code their boxes?

I’m just wondering if I should restore it or leave it as is???

That MAC box appears in their 1962 catalog. I love it as is but I've also seen some beautiful restorations of that same setup. Click the attached link below and see page 113. Royal Deluxe Tool Chest and Roll-Away.

As I recall in my work days the mac boxes had the bar handles with the word MAC in the center of them this was early 1970s so I'd guess yours are earlier than that.
I used all mac tools in my day.

I have quite a few Mac tools with patina to fill it too! This Mac box was cool enough to boot the Par-X chest that I've had for years out to pasture. That round logo plate is just plain cool.

Who is the OEM for this box? Do you know?

Yes, that would be 1960's. The earlier ones were blue with gray drawers. I have a stack that actually says "Huot" on the roller folding door, along with all the MAC branding. So.......one guess as to who made them for MAC during the '50's.

I just noticed...in the catalog page they call the color Coca-Cola red. I wonder if they got approval for that from Coke?

Yes, it's very small. Definitely made for another time which is a big thing that makes it cool.
