Foundation for a Quonset Style Building

My wife and I just bought several acres of land a couple of towns over and wanted to put up some sort of building to keep stuff under cover and locked up as we build. We bought a used 24' x 48' steel frame Quonset style building that we will be putting on the property. The building is currently on block walls, I am not sure how deep they go in the ground, and has a dirt floor. I am assuming if I do a block wall they would need to be 48" deep for here in Vermont. I am also considering a monolithic pour with a couple of rows of block on top. Has anyone done a foundation under a Quonset style building? Any recommendations? I should probably also mention that the town we are in does not require any permits for such a project.

you could block wall or pour concrete walls. A trencher is your friend here, dry ground and accurate trenching and you could use the dirt as the majority of your form, set anchors into the concrete as wall tie downs instead of drilling later.

If you concrete, you can stub rebar into the building and add a slab at a later date.

If it's just storage, a good vapor barrier and gravel will work. Or consider having blacktop put down instead of concrete, it won't get weather so it will hold up geeat. Seen this done in a few barns, black topped a section and finished out, then leave the rest gravel.

Get some of the non skinning butyl caulking or sealer strip that are used on sheet edges for Morton style buildings and use it on you panel edges. The quonset buildings I've been in all develop leaks after a few years, this should offer some protection.
