I am a bit stumped. I need to add on to my garage, and where I need to do it, has driveway that is not in perfect condition. I has a couple cracks and is probably not quite perfect. Its not horrible, but not perfect. We have a driveway that goes beside our whole house and to the back of our house, so this is the location. Its no where near the street. I just don't know how to start. Do I have someone come pour a concrete stem wall, or do I lay a couple courses of CMUS to make a nice sturdy and level starting foundation wall? Thanks everyone and hope someone can at least point me in the right direction.

If I understand what you are describing, you have a setup similar to my recent project. You will need to remove the old concrete driveway and construct a foundation wall to support your new structure. I built the foundation with masonry block, but it could be cast in place concrete also. Bottom line - don't try to build a new structure on a thin concrete driveway slab.

nmanitou, do you have any pictures you could post that show more of your roof line and how you tied it in. And how far around back did you extend you add on. Thanks
In the front, I kept the truss orientation the same - just set back by the 4' offset of the front facing wall. The back side roof matches in with the existing. My layout wraps around the back side of the existing garage and for that section I rotated the truss orientation 90 degrees. Hope these pics help.
