Wondering if there is a way to make a foundation for a carport for the side rail? Would eventually pour a slab and tie it in with rebar?
Thanks

How about a picture of what you have ? It'll help your fellow members give you better advice.

You might want to also add a general location to your profile, it helps with the latter too. What works for one part of the country, may not work for another part.

I'm in NC myself. You shouldn't have major concerns with holding it up with foundation, but holding it down. Those buildings can become kites. I would have it set level on top of 4" solid block, leaving most of block outside the bottom rails. Anchoring it down with supplier rebar stakes, they hold surprisingly well. Temporally fill with stone. Later own you can grade out the gravel and you're ready to pour concrete. Still your rebar anchors will be in concrete as well as the ground.

Your local jurisdiction are the only ones who can answer your question with certainty.

And uplift is a problem you will need to deal with regardless.

And how deep your soil freezes will help determine foundation depth.

If you will ever need to close it on with conventional framing, then you will need to have a continuous foundation.

If you don't install a continuous footing, then thicken the edge of the slab and reinforce that edge.

Don't forget proper drainage and surface preparation.
