The spot in my yard where I want my shop to be has a big multi trunked tree stump in it. This was a mature tree and the stump is rather large and I'm sure has some sizeable roots.
My plan is for radiant floor heat which will require some kind of foam heat insulator under the pad which that alone makes me want to pour over very solid ground since I'll be getting less support from the foam.
So by the time I get this stump out I'm going to be left with a big section of ground that has been disturbed. I envision some kind of compactor work before I begin with the pad.
So my question is basically can anyone speak to me about this? What is necessary to settle the ground? What about the roots I can't or don't get, over time once those begin to rot the ground is going to settle into their void. Seems like having a foundation poured on 2 inches of foam is going to compound the problem once the ground under the foam settles down and leaves unsupported areas under my slab.
