-I am in the northeast MA area.
-30'x40' garage.
-Steel span garage(MiracleTruss)

What do you guys suggest, slab or a footing with wall foundation?

Also do I have any other options?

Thanks!

Awesome kbs2244!!! Thanks so much for the link. Huge HUGE help!

It looks like a FPSF monolithic slab(page 27) would work perfect for me.

Am I correct in that I would only need a vertical insulation protection for a slab in Massachusetts?

Looks like I live in a AFI of 2000 so I would need a minimum footing depth of 14" with a vertical insulation R-value of 5.6.

To get that(5.6) R-value, going by the table on page 9(highlighted column) I can go with either:

-Expanded EPS II 2" thick
-Extruded XPS IV-VII 2" thick
-Extruded XPS X 1.5"" thick

Is this correct?

I will have to look around for a crew that is familiar with this FPSF foundation.

Does monolithic slab meet MA code requirements? I thought I remembered something about MA not recognizing them as valid yet. I might be confused though.

Cheers!
