You guys ever need that socket size? If so, what for?

I see that Hansen Global has two posts on their 1/4 drive socket holders for the 4.5mm shallow and deep.

GearWrench makes a 1/4 drive 4.5mm impact socket, but their regular chrome sockets skip that size.

Nope. 5.5 often but, never 4.5.

Someone must need it because many manufacturers are including it in their sets.

However, i'll say it again that I feel letting Hansen trays dictate what socket sizes comprise your sets is just wrong

But i do enjoy people questing for oddball sizes that they will never use to avoid empty peg syndrome

I've ran into 5.5mm hex head plastic tapping screws for car interiors, but never a 4.5mm hex.

That peg would be easy to fill. It's 1/4".

Never a 4.5mm.
Anyone who has done any work on GM heater boxes knows the value of the 5.5mm....

The only place I've seen 4.5mm (which IS freaking tiny stuff) is electronics work - internal case screws (or bolts), radio transceivers, IIRC it's also used to hold down computer boards inside components. Not necessarily to attach engines to motor mounts, but they have their place. I know I have (in my collection of stuff) a 4.5mm nut driver just for this. Had to order the (deleted) thing specially for some repair I was doing.

Know how hard one of those nuts are to find when you drop it?

I'm pretty sure the headlight adjusters on my car are a 4.5mm hex, but I just use a combo wrench for that. I may be misremembering and it's a 4 or 5 or 5.5 I bought a set of ignition wrenches that work fine for that.

That's the peg you snip off and put an adapter or universal on.

I put my 5/16" socket on the 8 mm peg and vice versa, just to show the socket organizer guys who's boss.

It’s a rare size. It’s not used by either the ISO or DIN standards, but it does feature on the Japanese JIS. It’s the nut size for a 2.2 or 2.3 mm screw, which is fairly rare! Rarer still that you need a nut for one!

There's no winning with those double-damned things. thinwall thumbwheel socket to get the screws out, except the damn thing is always obstructed requiring turning the distributor to access both screws. Next, you get to reset the timing. THEN you realise you didn't unplug the SPOUT connector, and have to set timing again.
