Four Post Lift Storage

The thread regarding moving a four post with a car on it got me thinking.

I'd very much like to get a lift but permanent installation is not convenient for my situation. The mobility of the four post would make life so much better for me if I could 'store' when not in use. However, it would have to be stored outdoors, on a concrete pad. I realize this wouldn't be ideal so I'd like to hear if anyone has one permanent installed outdoors and, thoughts/comments on this idea. Being in SE Texas it'll be sitting in the HOT full sun much of the day.

I recall a local shop had one permanently installed outdoors for many years but I have no knowledge of how much it was used, how it deteriorated, etc.

So, unload on me........ :)

Not 4 post but there's a few junkyards around here that have them installed outside on concrete pads. The pists are usually tarped in the winter when not being used.

:dunno:

Most of the garages at the garage condos I go to for car shows every month have four post lifts and most of them are not anchored down because they have them in a different spot every month.

Most of the motors and switches on consumer grade lifts aren’t weather protected, and I doubt if the hoses are UV resistant.

I have seen user manuals that tell you that the lift is for indoor use only, but I don’t recall which manufacturers have that warning.

I have a Bend-Pak HD9 and it came with a big set of 4 casters and if you have a half *** smooth surface they roll real easy with a car on them ., bad pick included ,
