Another small update. Juggling kids and doing projects means the projects need to be small or they won't get done. At least it's been very mild compared to normal, so they had a chance to test out their Christmas gift outside:

And while they were semi-distracted, I got the other light installed on the other side of the garage door:

And they even work! Much brighter:

Also silent, unlike our old sodium style light (the green orb in the upper right of that last photo).

I didn't take any photos of my electrical work. Besides just working, I'm pretty proud that it was fairly cleanly done. At least you'll need to take my word for it :lol_hitti

That's all for now with the slow progress. I'll post up when I get the next micro project done.

No picture worthy things to post up, but have made some progress.

Yesterday I got the oil changed in the Jeep, then my better half and I got about 90% done making a wooden tire rack. It's about 6' long, 3' deep and two levels of shelves high. Hopefully it can house the many spare trailer tires and our winter/summer tires when not in use. I'll post up when construction is done, moved into position and loaded up.

In other news, the need for the new lights was reinforced. We got about 2 inches of snow last weekend. When going for a walk found what looked to be either coyote or dog prints about 75 feet from the back of the house. Field fencing might be a higher priority when the ground thaws in the spring.

That's all for now. Will post up when I have some pictures.

Managed to get some work in outside today between looking after the kids, being sick, and Sam going in to work this morning.

The big accomplishment was finishing the tire rack and regrading the gravel in that room:

Got the Kubota back into it's area and tried to pack things in where possible. Still have more stuff than space, but we've been in talks with some barn builders to hopefully resolve that (although likely not within 2020). Here's some pictures:

As we were heading inside, it started snowing, so I took a quick walk to get pictures of the apple orchard and tree farm area. Neither is in as good of shape as we want, but the new mower should fix that this spring. We're also pricing/planning out an orchard fence for the whole area rather than the individual cages we have right now:

Finally here is the tree farm:

Two years ago we planted 50 white pine and 50 blue spruce saplings. At last count I think there was about 70 trees left, which is actually a good percentage for saplings. We plan to let them grow for one more year in this location before moving them to other parts of the property.

That's all for now. The snow has continued to fall tonight, so doubt I'll accomplish too much this week if it hangs around. Also back to work after my lengthy Christmas and New Years holidays. Although, hopefully next weekend I'll have some Jeep updates, if the parts arrive. Thank you to everyone that reads my ramblings and I'll aim to keep posting semi-regular updates.

The Mustang is quite the contrast to everything else you have on your farm. I can't argue it one bit and hope you still enjoy it.

Hi JB,

Yes, the Mustang doesn't really fit in, but I know you get the reason for a fun ride with your Cobra. I get to drive it often enough, but less time for upgrades and maintenance than I'd prefer. When Hazel turns 2 in May, we'll put her in a front facing car seat which fits in the back of the Mustang perfectly.

Hopefully in time other things around here will be a bit more sporty (or at least efficient) and ideally cleaner/shiny. Supposedly our side road will be paved with tar and chips next fall, so at least there will be less dust after that.

Hi all,

No other progress yet this week, but the Jeep parts did arrive. I'll post up photos when they're installed.

Oh I completely understand and back you on keeping it. I've heard the rear facing car seats referred to as trash can size and after having them, I'd have to agree. My youngest just turned 6 so only booster seats required for us. :)

I would love to even have chip and seal for our road, the gravel stinks, but the mud is the bane of my existence.
