I've got myself in the hand a few times and once in the knee from about 3 feet away. It ***** seeing a nail sticking out of your body. Every time I got myself, it was because of a double or triple shot from the rear of the gun hitting something like the other stud in a stud bay, then firing again. The new guns have the selector to prevent this.

It looks like 2 1/2" still sticking out. 1" penetration can stick in the heart and stay... I have to call FAKE NEWS on this one. or at least exaggerated.

I hate links to pay sites - they blur themselves out in 5 seconds.

Probably just got into the heart muscle - if it went into one of the chambers guy would be dead in 5 minutes with blood shooting halfway across the room.

I heard this one on the radio the other day and thought the same thing - chest, or heart area, maybe. The article said it actually penetrated the heart, but the doctor's quote said it missed an artery by cm's. So it's a little vague.

Funniest part was the guy texting his wife from the hospital, "I'm in the we" instead of "I'm in the er."

It was a double shot and a ricochet.

Story said it was by an artery..

The average heart is closer to the neck than to the belly button, with the bottom of the heart itself just touching an imaginary horizontal line across the *******, and a bit to the left of dead center of the body (the right side of the heart is on center). There are several major blood vessels near where that nail went in, so that is probably what they were referring to ..

it's also the Washington Post, so treat it like you would a story in the Weekly World News or the National Enquirer.

my father was a contractor, His crew was working on a house when one of the guys yells down that he just nailed his hand to the roof, They took a skill saw and cut the plywood and took him to the hospital still nailed to the plywood.

Hit and miss on this one. It's kind of like a nail in a tire if you leave it alone you'll make it to the tire shop. Pull it out and you won't make it to the end of the drive way.

I've read somewhere that Steve Erwin might have survived the barb to the heart if he didn't pull it out.
