Diy, and occasional use?

Get the HFT gun. Around $70 or so with coupon.

I would agree here... or look for a used one.

But DIY can mean a lot to different people... If you will be framing yours and your friends houses with it then you may want to upgrade to Hitachi or similar. If building a dog house will be one of the bigger tasks on your list then get the HF or used.

My father-in-law bought me a HF framing nail gun about 15 years ago. I have built additions to my house, my shop and 3 barns including one that is 36X48. It has been an absolute fantastic tool. Zero complaints. The only hang up I've ever had with it is I have to use plastic coated nail strips. The paper ones make it jam. Other than that it has been great.

Hitachi is generally considered the best in pneumatic nailers, but I don't know if you can get one for under $200. Bostitch and Senco make good ones as well.
Honestly, for occasional DIY use, any framing nailer beats no framing nailer. I'm talking Harbor Freight, Campbell Hausfeld, whatever you can find. Also check pawn shops, Craigslist for a used one, just make sure they can demonstrate it for you before buying it.

I like clipped head for capacity and you can get them with inline magazines for fitting better in tight spaces.

Like anything else there's no one best brand/model. I do however like brands like Bostitch, Hitachi, Paslode, Max, and Senco. I have used or own all of these brands and they have held up well under long periods of hard use. Spend a little extra and get a good one that will last. You should be able to get most of these brands at or near your price range.

I found both a Bostitch and a Porter Cable at a pawn shop, same condition, same price. I talked to a knowledgeable friend who sent me to a place that repairs them and told me to ask which THEY would recommend. They said hands down the Bostitch, as they couldn't get parts for PC. That was several years ago, so things could have changed, but my Bostitch has worked extremely well, and the price was <100 at the PS. :)

I picked up the big Paslode from Zoro for under 200 when they had their last 30% flash sale. Be patient and you will find them under 200 with coupons, points or whatever.
Have not used it on a project yet but it is bad *** toy for playing around. (Like OP I have a shed to build too).
