Going to start framing out my red iron metal building which is a barndo. Going to 2x4 framing and sheet rock. I’m little confused on how to frame out around the doors, do I frame 1/2” out from door frame housing for sheet rock or if I want to frame out with trim just leave framing 1/2” off the door housing?

Just wanting to see pics of framing if anyone has some to get an idea and so I don’t end of having to redo it around my door. Pic below is current state of door opening.

How do you want the door to look? Like it’s recessed into a really thick wall? Do you want an “alcove” about a foot wider than the door?

Are you asking about carrying the rough opening all the way through to the interior?

It depends on how thick of a wall. If you are doing the 2 X 4 framing tight to the current jamb, your door swing clearance should still be pretty good. If you are talking about spacing the wall further inward, it will make the door less usable.

It's really your choice.
I like the do the jamb plane through the opening with wood. It's more durable than sheet rock.

It will look recessed because I’m framing interior walls with 2x4. Recessed by the width of 2x4 and sheet rock

I assume windows will be same. I personally like thick walls and deep window sills. Just finished a room with foot thick walls and used drywall for reveals with bull nose corners around it.

Unless R value is a primary concern, i'd probably strap the wall, or fasten plywood directly to the purlins and frames.

Every inch you put into a thicker wall takes away from your interior space.

Yup. R value is a big factor. Getting open cell spray foamed after framing is done
