my townhouse garage is a 2 1/2 bay garage, 20' x 28'. with help of others i insulated, drywalled, put in resessed lights, grade 5 porcelin itallian tiles and carpet.

1987 BMW M6 (84,000 original miles)

since the phots were shot, i placed a round coffe table in front of the couch. my future plans are : a small work bench in the corner, a cieling fan and cabinets above the work bench. i will also be placing some polished stainless steel on the face of the pull down ladder,,,,,and some more trim here and there...........

((((( i'll be putting up more photos, when i get more done)))))

Please don't tell me that M6 is your DD...too nice!

Looking good. Did you do anything special to the tile floor like seal it or use epoxy grout?

bmwpower,
no the m6 is not my daily driver, its my blue sky monthly driver. i've been considering on selling the m6. i have my eye on a bmw 1200 adventure.
we did nothing special for the tile, its not very poriss..anything i spilled on it, just wipes right up.also, its not very slippery when it gets wett. As far as the grout, i asked my buddy "the tile guy", if i should go with epoxy grout, he said he didnt think it was cost effective for me..i suppose if i was gona be doing a lot of wrenching,, i would have gone with epoxy grout...so fas so good.......

Looks clean.

Did you purposefully get a mix of tiles, or is that a "set" of mixed colors of the same variant?

Paint matches nice, not the colors I would have picked, but they match the tile.

enginerd,
yes i purposelly picked those tiles,,they were from a set of mixed tiles,,,,for the reason, i figured they woul not show as much dirt as a single color tile.... plus, they matched the exterior colors of the townhouse communitty.....dark reds,,maroons,,dark greens..

Cool, yea I assumed so, seems they were picked to match.

As long as you try not to turn the wheels whilst in place, you should be fine with tire marks. And dirt will show up less with those lighter colors, as darker shades tend to have high contrast with the dirt typical in this type of garage.

Did you think about doing any tile on the base of the walls too?

We were thinking about it, but might do some stone instead (match the outside).

enginerd,
yes, i considered placing tile up the wall,,maybe like 6"....but im gona go with wood trim painted the same color as my window and door trim...if my outside of the townhouse had ,,say...mt. stone on it,,,,i would have done one complete wall in the garage in mt. stone...that woul have looked way cool..
note : the cinderblock knee wall behind the car and motorcycle.....before i painted it,,,i used like 3 coats of, painted on block filler,,which makes a very smooth wall,,it fills in all the sharp nooks and crannys of cinderblock....

What brand is the tile and were did you buy it? Price per sq ft?

Hi, i got the tile at www.conestogatile.com thru my buddy (a tile guy). The tile i know is, "grade 5 itallion porcelin (which is very hard, suitable to drive a car over it). My buddy also told me that laying the tile evenlly and having a good grout foundation is also very important. My garage is a 2 1/2 car garage, more than 3/4 of the garage was tiled. i'm thinking the tiled service area was 500 sq. ft. my buddy got me the tile and grout at his cost, im thinking it was like $2500.00...so that would make it $5.00 a sq/ft. My buddy and his partner worked 2.5 days laying the tile. If it is really important for you to know the manufacture of the tile, i might be able to find out.
I'm sorry i couldn't give you definite answers, but im real close. After spendeing so much money on the floor, i really wanted to try to forget the cost.
