Sometime in the last year I bought a Franz Kuhlmann pantograph copy engraving machine.
I want to move the pantograph into my section of the basement before I start engraving some of the parts and pieces I made.

I have followed up on the information from the machine tags. I check eBay and Craigslist and Google every day. So far nothing. I have time.

Wont hurt to email the manufacturer and see if they can service the part you need.. heck they might have one on the shelf.. All they can say is yes or no and if yes how much... I've found manufacturers more then willing to help in most cases...

I placed this pantograph on Craigslist this week and in a few hours a man is coming to have a look with the intention of buying. I know I will have sellers remorse. Life sometimes gets in the way.
I may replace this machine with a VISION CNC machine sometime in the future.

I suppose its sold but what's the basic concept...you setup the "type" and trace it with an indicator tip, lifting up and down between characters...some type of "v" bit for the actual rotating/engraving stylus. The table is for how to setup the geometry to get the finished size you want on the part from the single-size set of type.

I've engraved quite a bit of stuff over the years using a Fadal VMC but the font that's built into the machine is not really anything to be proud of if you ask me. In more modern machines I feel like there's more fonts but I don't know for sure. There's a learning curve to using a CNC machine...kind of high stakes given the ease of thoroughly crashing it.

You have the basics right.
I think CNC might be easier, for me. Take a look at some of the VISION CNC videos on YouTube.
My daughter teaches code and CNC programing and robotics. I should be able to get some help from her to make up for decades of free rent..

$900cdn. this include lots of fonts, tools, spare parts and tooling. I just got an text from a possible buyer, he is 15 minutes away.
If this kind of manual machine is what a person likes, this may be the best used one available. I am not taking offers.

I used to operate a engraver like that. I worked in a machine shop/foundry (many, many years ago) and I engraved part numbers in the wooden patterns before they went to the foundry. It was a slow way to work but we didn't have CNC equipment back then!

The pantograph is sold and was picked up just about noon today. I have very little seller's remorse, at this time.
As much as I want one of these machines, it was time to let it go because I may not ever have time to use it.
