Frazinator or Automotive Cooler

I have a 80 gallon CH single stage, dual cylinder compressor that I am fighting water in my lines. I keep the tank drained, but use it heavy sometimes for sandblasting and air tools. I read up on the frazinator system and others have mentioned an automotive cooler such as a ****** cooler or AC condenser. Is one better than the other for aiding water removal?

I am not a believer in the Franzinator type. Most all compressed air dryers rely on condensation. So the more you can cool the air the better. The reason why copper or steel lines are better than non-metallic for water removal is the cooling and condensation they can provide. You could increase the efficiency of the automotive AC condenser by putting it in cool water bath for example to aid heat transfer. Then you need a place for the water to drop out and collect. For critical applications, like paint spraying you can supplement with a dessicant drier by the gun air intake.

I would use both. I did this on my system.
I have the Hayden 1260 cooler going to a coalescent filter then to a Liquid Knock Out sacrificial 3 gallon tank (in this case the Frazinator) and then to my main air tank. The 3 gallon tank and the main tank each have an auto drain. I get most of the moisture in the coalescent filter. The 3 gallon is mainly to protect the main tank. I feel it is cheaper and easier to replace the smaller tank then the main tank.

Look up Earl's Coolers. Buy the biggest one and then plumb a water separator immediately after it. You can also hook up a large computer muffin fan.
