We bought a new house and moved in at the end of October. It's a 2850 ft/sq house with a 840 ft/sq garage. The garage (21x40) has a second floor for storage/future man cave. The storage area goes all the way to the front. They called it a "porte cushier". That gives an area of 14.5x60 feet long. Here's a few pictures of the build-in.

Nice space for certain. Yours is only the second style that I have seen like that though. A conventional style of roof on the house and the old style of barn roof on the garage. We have a house in town built very similar to yours. Personally to me the style doesn't go together. I always think that style of roof belongs on a barn and not on a house addition. BUT......I would love to have that space myself. It looks huge from the pics. What are the plans for the upstairs? Mancave, or is the wife going to take it over?

I really like a carport in front of a garage. Very good utility, very handy.

I've insulated the rear garage door. Made a good difference.
I added extra 1/4 thick strips to make it all snugged

Decided to open the wall to make better room and access to the sink.
I made sure this section wasn't supporting anything.

I'm struggling a bit with the roof and how it goes with the main house. My guess is the barn roof gets you the interior volume you want and reduces the mass?
I probably would have done a 4 or 5' knee wall then matched the pitch of the main house for the roof and maybe even have hipped the front as well.
But again, might have brought you less interior space.
I guess if the window on the gable end of the garage was more similar to the main house it might reduce the mass of the brick on the gable. iDK.
It is a nice build though.

I found a spider in the garage a few weeks ago... I kill some every so often but this has been the first black widow I found. One of my neighbor said he had plenty when he first moved in.

I don't like it so I decided to "seal" the garage. I ordered better bottom seal and also got the sides. Here in Texas they always cut at 45 degree the side frame that touches the ground. That leaves an 1"-1/4" (triangle) gap
I never really understood why they are doing that. I patched it with concrete.
That will also stop the mice. Killed a few last fall.
Next week I will seal the gap between the concrete floor and the framing with polyurethane caulking. They only had the seals in white so I'll have to paint them later.

I got the aluminum rail (L-Shape) and added a 1/4" foam inside. Worked great, it cushions better and closes all the gap that I was seeing before with the old rubber.

I already have seen an improvement. A lot less bugs, actually none (could also be the cold weather). It will never be 100% but it's 20 times better then what it was.

What did you use for your ceiling panels on your carport? Are they long strips or something in a 4x8 sheet?

As far as cutting the side jamb at a 45, I never saw that before, anywhere. Is there a reason that you couldn't cut a piece of treated wood at a 45 and fill that in and finish it off, or even take some Bondo and fill it in. I could see them doing that if the floor was poured at the very last, as the 45 would let them get the concrete right up to the foundation and allow them to work it smooth. Forms for steps are done that way by some. It allows the lower step to be finish troweled right up to the base of the step above it.

The ceiling under the carport (porte cushier like the builder called it)
is made with HardiePanel from what I can tell. They are in panel, 4'x8' I think.

I really have no idea why the are doing the side jamb that way. That's (unfortunately) the only way they do it here

Great place!! I love the color of the brick. It makes the place look so majestic!! You should be able to do a lot of great things in that place. Take care and good luck.

Not really garage related but we added a patio cover this month.
My wife was worry it could be too dark inside the house so we added 2 skylights. We are pretty happy with them.

Almost finished. We also closed the entire gap between the house and the garage in the front section of the house.
