MSA: I've never understood paying $90+ for something you can get for free.

As soon as the headband gets too sweaty, I toss it and get a new one.

Most of the GC's / Cm's I work with that have safety programs that exceed OSHA standards issue hard hat stickers for site specific training programs on most projects.

My hard hat is covered in stickers two too to.....

I requested one. Ive been wearing MSA full brims for the last 12 years. Everything else feels funny when I try it on. I'll give it a shot though.

Try working for a semi-public utility project in Kalifornia. I have stickers for desert bighorn training, quino butterfly training, desert iguana training, wild land fire training, helicopter safety training.... :willy_nil

in the oilfield, we put the stickers from all the safety classes from different operators (Shell, Anadarko, Murphy, Talisman, Oxy, etc..) on our hardharts, plus all the super tacky service provider ones :)

I wear an MSA hard hat every day at work. Full Brim and provided by the company. While this is a great offer for our subcontractors to get in on, it will not work for me.

I received my hard hat today. I am wearing it right now in my office(well protected if something falls on my head)

It is comfortable and light. Takes a lot of time for adjustments but overall is very nice.

I got my full brim one today, it has a sticker on it that changes color due to UV light exposure to tell you when it needs to be replaced. No vents, like in the picture on this one though.

why youre not suppose to put stickers on them?

OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.132(a) requires that PPE (this includeds hardhats) be "...maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition..." [Emphasis added.] To ensure a helmet is and remains in a "reliable" condition, the helmet must be inspected prior to use for signs of dents, cracks, penetration, and any damage due to impact, rough treatment, or wear that might reduce the degree of protection originally provided and used and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Paints and stickers may eliminate electrical resistance and – depending on the location and quantity – conceal defects, cracks, penetration, and any damage that would be otherwise readily identifiable during the employee's inspection to ensure reliability. Another concern is that paints, thinners, and solvents, as discussed in Appendix A of ANSI Z89.1-2003 and the appendices of the 1986 and 1997 versions, can also attack or damage the shell of a helmet and reduce protection.

OSHA would consider painting or placing adhesive stickers acceptable if the manufacturer authorizes the alteration or the employer can demonstrate that the reliability of the helmet is not affected by the paint or the adhesive on the stickers; and the paint or placement of stickers would not reduce the ability to identify defects (i.e., use of see-through stickers) or other conditions that would indicate a reduced reliability.

Got one too. Nice hat. Smaller than my other one, should give me better clearance. I'm a tall person, low hanging objects give me headaches. This is better than tylenol!

I have, as insurance cost skyrocket a company cant afford to have any issues that can be used against them in court.

I've been denied entry into a petrochemical site because my hard hat had stickers. I was there as an inspector/consultant and they made me wear their approved hat. Wearing a "visitor" hard hat is kinda disgusting to me so I like to wear my own.

I have been at about 24 industrial sites in the past year and half or so, in around 12 states and 4 canadian provinces and while I've run into some off the wall rules, the hard hard stickers hasn't been one of them. My favorite was "YOU MUST HAVE YOUR RESPIRATOR IN THE SEALED PACKAGE!", my response "so, uh when we are being gassed out you would like me to stop cut open the package and then attempt to put on my respirator? Wish the military had given us that much time to beep bop around while playing gas attack."

No energy drinks onsite also made me smile. Drink all the coffee and smoke all the cigarettes you want boys, but DO NOT pick up that Red Bull.

As you said though its all about insurance issues now days. Sometimes it is for the better and sometimes it is frustrating.

I received mine last week. Took about 6 weeks to get it. Very comfortable and I received a White full brim hard hat like the others. I was really hoping it wasn't going to be yellow.
