I was visiting one of my hangar neighbors at the airport where I keep my plane. The conversation turned to the tools I'll have in the 40' x 60' shop I'm building and he said he had a couple of saws I might be interested in.

He had a Delta 28-150 9-Inch Bench Band Saw and a Delta 40-540 16-Inch Variable Speed Scroll Saw. I asked he what he wanted and he said they were given to him and he'd give them to me if I would use them.

I got them home and checked them out. The motors ran fine, looks like the Band Saw needs new tires (the rubber the blade runs on) and the Scroll Saw needs a hold down fork. The parts will cost me about $20.

Just need to get the shop build so they'll have a home.

Okay, let's get the mandatory 'YOU ****!' out of the way; lucky devil!

I looked for any threads by you showing off that truck you have in the background of the picture of the freebies and did not find any.

As a penance for your 'suckiness', you need to post pics of the truck, the shop, and of course, your airplane!

Some guys have all the luck - airplane, new hanger, neat truck, and to top it all off, they get FREE TOOLS! Damn, I must have been born under the wrong star sign! lol

Good score Technomayor! Get some Urethane tires for the bandsaw. Makes a LOT of difference. Yeah, I wanna see pics of the truck too!

i have the same band saw and not a fan .... but for free what the hell
Yep, I've read some reviews that agree with you. This would not have been the model I'd have chosen, but as you pointed out, it's hard to argue for free. :D

OK, here's some pictures.

The truck "Ruby" is a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster Pickup. She's in OK condition with tractor quality paint that looks good from a distance. At some point in the future I plan to do a frame off restoration on her (one of the reasons for building a shop).

During the holiday season we decorate her with about 3,000 lights for the Fort Worth Parade of Lights and as an expensive lawn decoration.

The plane "Independence One AKA I1" is a 1956 Cessna 172. The Cessna 172 is the most successful mass-produced light aircraft in history. The first production models were delivered in 1956. The same model Cessna 172 as mine holds the world endurance record in a propeller-driven airplane having flown for 64 days, 22 hours, and 19 minutes from December 1958 to February 1959.

In this picture you see I1, wife, daughter and dog. The four most high maintenance things in my life. ;)

Here's a picture of I1 at the worlds largest fly-in in Oshkosh WI a couple of years ago.

Do you recall what year? Me and my father flew up there from CT in 2010 I believe. Was it busy when you flew in? We got diverted to another airport due to there not being enough room in the grass (soggy from the night before).

We own a Cessna 182.

It was 2010 (also known as Sloshkosh), so we were there at the same time. Luckily my plane was old enough to park in the "Vintage" area as the North 40 was no where near dry when we arrived.

Here's a link to the pics I took there.

Nice! Same year I was there. Jack Rosch crashed his plane while trying to show off. And yes, never heard it dubbed "sloshkosh", but that was what it was. You vintage guys must've gotten preferred tiedowns:sad:

It was fun nonetheless.

Edit: (just got done looking at the pics) Darn it, you got a ride in that tri-motor???? We were waiting in line only for it to be sold out. And I see you got pics of Jack's plane. The airlift of that Ford was a cool thing as well, we were right up almost as close as you could get to it. Haha, brings back some good memories.
