I know this may be old news for some of the members but.... I have one of the Home Depot Huskey 40" boxes. It's not a bad box but not the greatest either.

After running out of room I was looking at purchasing a Craftsman single drawer mid box but it costs about 2/3 of what the Huskey top box costs! Studying the box I noticed the silly pull out tray that I never use. Giving a second look I noticed that it could be flipped around and would serve as a full lengthe shallow drawer.

I had to flip the slides and tweak things a little bit but it turned out great!

hey, that's pretty cool. Pretty resourceful of you. They should advertise that as one of the selling features of the box. I wouldn't want a pull-out work surface when I can just use the top of the box for that (assuming there is no top chest). I would rather have the drawer.

Your right, it's a cool mod he made.

As an aside I do use a pull out work space. All five of my rollaways have tops on them and you do need a work space handy sometimes.

I just use a Mac tool drawer lid.
It covers your drawer and gives you a work space. You can close the drawer with it in place, or get under it to take stuff from a drawer.

Nice find! A little ingenuity goes a LONG way. BTW, I have one of those right angle T/handle ratchets too! Looks like the same exact one I have. Not the highest quality tool in the world, but it has come in handy a few times.

How about a drawer similar to this - with a open/close top for a work surface. It would have to be sturdier and wider, but the idea could work.
