I just got the pictures for my heating system posted on my website so you can see what I've got. I have a Hardy 180,000 Woodburner that has an 8" stack. I have been heating my 122 year old brick home with it for 16 years. I can see the woodburner from my kitchen and every morning I see heat going out the stack. This winter I built a heat exchanger to collect some of that heat. Built from SS scrap cost a couple days work. From my calculations it will raise the temp of my 24x40x8 shop about 10* plus or minus depending on outside temp and how much the stove runs to heat the house. As I figured, it is a somewhat high maintenance device. The cooler water condesses a lot of water that collects the soot to the pipe which turns to tar which to keep operating at best efficiency shoud be scraped about once a week. Taking 1/2-1 hour and kind of messy. The picture is the collector with the stove pipe off. The other picture is manifold system.
Well, sorry, I not picture savvy, my daughter puts them on my website but I don't know how to get them here, maybe some help? On the H.A.M.B. I can just copy and paste.
Please go to my website, scroll to the bottom to Chevy Nut's Junque Shed. In the pictures (again near the bottom) are the pics of the piping system and collector.
