We allocated 10,000 promo codes and went thru them in 2 days.

We'll have other opportunities.

That is what was sent back to me... Problem is, they will not have other opportunities to sell ME a tool. Sorry, you lose.

So you sent a nasty email b/c a company that's offering something for free simply ran out?

I sure hope you're joking...

:wtf:

Nope, not joking. Sorry but if you are going to offer something for a promotional stunt you better have a back up plan... or better yet, post on your website that the promo is over or run out or whatever... It is called bait and switch, has no one ever heard of it?

Running out of 10k allocated is not bait and switch. And perhaps you were 10k +1 and they had no time to update the website. Chill out, like I said above, you didn't pay for nothin'

I used a throw away email address, and checked out as a guest.

Nope, once these freebies show up on slickdeals.net and other freebie/deal websites there are thousands of takers. We all saw how it impacted the website.

Actually, I believe the only reason it lasted as long as it did was that the free bits deal was posted in the Slickdeals Freebie forum instead of their Hot Deals forum. The Hot Deals forum gets a lot more traffic.

kawittwer you are one sore loser! I bet you was bullied as a child.

No joke.
I'm sure they went through them much faster than they were expecting. It can take a long time to update a website for a large company so you can't expect an instantaneous 'We're out' notice. kawittwer must be new to the internet as deals like this commonly crash websites.

I was able to get a promo code this morning but every time I tried to check out the website would give me an error. I figured I lost out but I just tried again and my order went through! Thanks op!

It was on Slickdeals? Yeah, that means a bunch of soccer moms now have ten sets each. Every time there are free tools (or anything) posted, those stupid chicks use their million email addresses to order them and then post "I don't really know what they're for, but in for ten" in the thread.

Slickdeals chicks are the devil.

I have been using the internet since Al Gwhore started it so don't assume that I am new to things... Been working on computers since PC's were first out... and actually before that using Unix based mainframe systems...

I know how it works and I'm glad their website crashed. Gives them an opportunity to improve.

My career has always dictated that the customer is always right... not ***** to be you, next time you might get an opportunity to posses a couple of our wonderful driver bits... maybe... if you're lucky.

Have a great weekend! Enjoy the season in whatever way you may!

I check out this section of the forum often and have gotten lots of great deals thanks to the members here. Got to admit though, when I saw this "deal" I really didn't see what the big excitement was about. :dunno: I understand the thrill of the hunt, but in this case, the catch seemed pretty meager. Then again, I'm a torx user, I've got no use for any phillips or square drives for that matter.

But come on...sending an email to complain?.....claiming a bait and switch?.....Trust me, this company has not lost anything...

Well yeah..but being a customer to me would mean actually buying something...

They are out of the bit due to overwhelming response. But stay tuned while they make more. So :dunno:

Well, that is what the site says...

I got the secret code numbers the other day, and wasn't able to proceed any further than that. However, I tried it last night, as a guest, and was seemingly successful.:dunno:
