Hey guys:

I'm the proprietor of a tool site called aToolCrib (http://www.atoolcrib.com) and a new member of GarageJunkies.net. I've spoken with Luke (he OK'd this post) and would like to offer all GJ members free shipping on standard items (i.e. those that aren't shipped truck freight).

Just enter the code IMAJUNKIE at the top of the payment page and you'll get your discount.

Enjoy.

John

Could this be the start of something big?

I envision Garage Junkie shows, kinda like home shows, or log home shows, or kid and baby expos, held in large convention or trade centers, with lots of room. Everything remotely related to GJ's, tools, doors, builders specializing in garages, metal building companies, shop equipment companies (compressors, blasters, lifts...... yes, a chance to look at the various lifts, etc.)

You are a smart man. This is perfect timing on your part... Spring is around the bend and I just got my bonus from work!

Question about tax.... I assume since you're in NY and I am in NJ, I won't get hit with tax? Is this correct?

Yep, owned the '65 for 25 years, and it just went through a ground up. A '66 coupe was my first car at age 15, and I've owned the 1st gen ever since. The complete pictorial of the resto is in my sig. Now, my garage needs a ground up!

Nope, sorry don't carry that brand. But just do a search for "bearing driver" to see results from OTC, Lisle, and Astro.

Correct. Only NY'ers get hit with it, until Uncle Sam forces us to collect from everybody else too.

very good deal would this offer apply to canadian members too?

Sorry, not at this point in time, since we currently only ship to US addresses. Canadians often get hit with brokerage fees, and wind up refusing shipment, so it makes shipping over the border more expensive for US providers.

Is your "low price guarantee" still good with this offer?

Sure. But if you find a lower price, give me a call. More than likely, it's only going to be by a few cents.

Let me explain how this is going to work.

(1) Add the item to your cart. If the item is less than $8.95 (the minimum charge) there will be a problem with the site, so I suggest not ordering over the site - give me a call (during the evenings is the best time).

(2) Begin the checkout procedure. The first screen will be the standard shipping charge. Hit continue.

(3) Next will be the payment screen. Enter the code first, then click the REDEEM button.

(4) The screen will refresh. Next enter your payment info.

(5) You will come to a confirmation screen. Here is where you should see the discount. Due to the way the CC processing company wants to see the subtotal, shipping, and total, the free shipping is taken off before the subtotal.

(6) Bottom line is that the total, will be the sum of your shopping cart minus the shipping charges. Kind of a funky way of doing it, but it works.

I figure there is no free shipping to Europe, what are the payment terms? VISA?

Correct. USA Shipments only.

Terms are all Major CC's, PayPal or money order.

Until I say it's over!

We'll start out with the month of March - I think that's plently long enough for folks to take advantage of me!

I've noticed one thing...

Is there any easy way to browse socket sets? There are a ton of individual sockets which makes it hard to browse for sets. You need to add another layer in the menu system on the left for sets and ratchets...ie. "Sockets, Sets & Drives"...."1/2" Drive"...."Sets"... etc.

And another thing...

How do we go about getting a warranty claim on a tool bought from you?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just an anxious buyer...

I agree 100% on this....I do like however on some of your items right on the screen you tell how many items are in stock...that is extremely helpful....when purchasing we will have an idea if you have the product in stock or not

I completely agree. My supplier (a wholesaler) sends me a feed, and it takes quite a bit of modifying just to get the products in the order they're in now. I know it's not the best layout, but with over 16,000 tools, it's difficult.

A suggestion. Say you're looking for a SK set. You may start out at the SK site, and get a model number for the set you like. Then, go to aToolCrib and do a search for that model. I know - not a real good solution.

The other thing is to make use of the search feature. just search for "socket set 1/2".

That's all spelled out in the Shipping and Returns page. Again, these are basically the policies of my wholesaler.

That should appear for every item. I update the stock once a week (mondays), so if an item shows 1 in stock, there could be an issue later in the week. However, when the stock is updated, none of the items that are currently out of stock will show on my site (i.e. out of stock at the warehouses).

Therefore, one can make a simple conclusion that every item that is listed on my site is in stock as of the update. Get it?

Thanks a lot. Appreciate your offer of the free shipping and not having to pay sales tax is always a nice bonus, especially on larger ticket items. I saved over $75 by buying my Millermatic 175 online last November.

Since I "needed" to buy a pulley puller/installer last week, I decided to do a little comparison shopping, albeit too late. I bought a Lisle puller puller/installer P/N 38850 from a good friend of mine at O'Reilly's Autoparts for $65.95. I thought he was giving me some sort of discount, but come to find out, I ended up paying more than the MSRP. Lisle has an MSRP of $64.45 while O'Reilly's shows a list price of $111.85 and I paid a net price of $65.95 - $1.50 more than MSRP. Going to have to have a little talk with my friend.

Anyway, I checked atoolcrib.com and they offer Lisle P/N 39000, which is the no slip version of the same puller that I bought, for $63.68. The MSRP of P/N 39000 is $84.95. In other words, I could have bought a better puller for less cash out of pocket.

However, at the time that I bought my puller, I needed it right away and it cost me additional money because I did not have the luxury of shopping around for the best price, even if that meant a delay because of the shipping time.

Lesson to me: Plan ahead. Buy as many tools as I think I will possibly need far into the future. And then buy more just in case.

I will definitely put atoolcrib.com on my vendor list. Good luck with your business.

Btw, just a tip for your website. I haven't checked too many items, but there is an option to click on the photo of the item to see an enlarged view of it. The enlarged pic of the items that I looked at were the same size as the original pic. Would it be possible to have the enlargements be a few times larger than the originals? Some of us have tired, old eyes, ya see.

Thanks again.

Bigger picts would definitely be nice, but I would imagine bigger picts = more bandwidth = more $$ for him.

Yeah, I know about the picture sizes. These are supplied to me in the size that you see them - unfortunately, there's nothing more I can do about that.

Were they drop shipped to you from the distributor? I'm sure John will take care of you, he seems like a stand-up guy.

Luke's correct on both counts - I'm not going to be going anywhere, and I'll work with all my customers to make sure they're happy.

Not quite sure... they came from DriWash Solutions in MD.
