first, a little history. i do a batch return every year about this time, my shop/ garage is not heated and i like my tools ready for summer. when i called the number, as i don't have a dealer (and the nearest one only likes selling new tools, not warrantying them) in the area, i was surprised when instead of sending me a return tag, she told me they would arrive in about a week. SO, a week later, here i sit, old tools sitting beside the new ones, with no request to send the old back...disturbing,but happy.......:lol_hitti

I don't understand why you say "free tools"? The old ones were broken right? Snap on instructed you to dispose of the old ones appropriatly right?

And so this is the post where you bequeath the non-returned warranty tools to the GJ brethren on a first come basis for the cost of shipping correct?

Please post pics of said tools and I'll start with first tool choice.

Just like that Ebay seller "Brokentool" was doing.. selling stuff that was probably already warrantied and whoever buys it will warranty it again

bimmer630, i can't figure out "brokentool", he has too much coming through to be doing that. every week, about a hundred items, all worn or broken mac tools. even being a pawn shop couldn't account for that...

Wait a second. What's the difference between winter and summer tools? Is this where I have been going wrong?

since my garage isnt heated, i keep all my tools in the freezer, that way i dont have to swap them out for summer tools.

makes it tough getting to the ice cream sometimes :willy_nil

Yeah it sounds like your only warranting tools for rust and that's not really cool........ If you hate rust take the extra measure to protect them. I could be all wrong not trying to scorn you just spitting out from what I see.

nah. just to be clear, the tools are broken when i send them back! here, on the coast, there is only 3- 5 months of sunny, warm weather! so a ready set of tools is a must on that first nice day

I think karma would only come into play if he sold or gave the tools away to be warrantied again. not that I believe in karma but as of now he has done nothing wrong.

What is the point? Apparently, you live somewhere 8,000 knots north of BFE, and SO was trying to do a favor. You pay them back by letting everyone know that they, too, can shuck a heist. Yeah, keep the old ones and resell them on the Bay for the next heist.

Thanks for saying you can just call. I just did and they said they would send out a replacement. I was wondering how I was going to warranty a split socket. I tried to warranty a Challenger extension and they told me I was out of luck. They hadn't made that in 15 years. I thought their customer service would have been the same as Snapon.

Except he titled the thread, "Free snap on tools." There is no implication here, it's been stated clearly.

Somebody needs to tell Snap-on to quit giving tools away. They need to go back to making people jump through the hoops like the good ol' days.
