Close to me, but I have no room for it and no way to get it home. It almost looks like the one in my buddies shop (He works in Schaumburg)!

Same with me. No place to put it. I drive through Schaumburg every day going to work.

Stupid question. What exactly does it do? I already use www.autotap.com to diagnose issues with my cars. Just wondering what I would be able to do with this machine since I am close by and could pick it up. Thanks

They are great I think.
Basically, it's a tune up machine, with like for your older cars has a dwell meter for the points.
Then it has your timing light, vacuum gauge, tach,
Has cylinder kill that will kill or short out each cylinder one at a time to see if they are all firing.
Then it gives you your secondary scope pattern, for each cylinder, you can tell if a plug i s fouled, if there is a bad plug wire, shorted distributor cap, etc.
Also used to be able to hone in on a burnt valve, or other low compression, more so what cylinder it was.
May have been more useful for the older cars, but anything with a distributor or DIS system in this case, I would still say it would be useful.
It will not tell you everything, but you might say, it would tell you what was Not wrong, if that makes sense.
Good overview of the ignition system.
Don't think it can be used or adapted to be used on COP systems.

Hi Guys.
I have been trying to first sell and then give away my SUN MCM 2110, which is about the same machine but has the analog meters replaced by a second screen where all the variables are presented alpha-numerically on a "TV"-screen. All functions, excepet CO/HC worked perfectly.

The ability to accurately measure the HV side of the spark circuits per cylinder was the most useful part. And it was very accurate too!

After 6 months of zero interest it has now joined the big shredder in the sky!
I know I will regret that , but it was like an albatross in a budgie cage.

I hang on to the shop manual with all the schematics. Awesome electronics.
