Free Tool Score - Help me figure out value?

My dad kept telling me to come pick through his tools before he melted them down for scrap. Not sure why he is so determined to actually do that and replace a lot of US made tools with China junk from Sears, but I salvaged everything that I thought may be worth something or should not be melted down.

I do have some pictures, crappy quality, that I will post in a bit, but I am going to give you a list and ask kindly if you could tell me what each tool is worth. Thanks in advance.

First we have a Craftsman 4 piece ratcheting box end wrench set, SAE, all stamped Made in U.S.A. The sizes are 3/8 & 7/16, 1/2 & 9/16, 5/8 & 3/4, 13/16 & 7/8.

Then I have 3 Craftsman raised panel ratchets.

- 3/8 quick release stamped with part number 44811.
- 3/8 quick release stamped with part number 43785 and -VV-.
- 1/2 quick release stamped with part number 44975 and -V-.

Next up is 2 genuine Crescent brand adjustable wrenches stamped U.S.A. in 8 and 12 inch.

Then I have some impact, impact swivels, and chrome swivels by Snap-On, all have the underline logo.

- 19mm impact socket.
- 13/16 impact socket.
- 9/16 swivel impact socket.
- 1/2 swivel impact socket.
- 9/16 chrome swivel socket.
- 1/2 chrome swivel socket.

Then I have an assortment of wrenches.

From top to bottom:

- S-K Wayne stamped 7/8 combination wrench. Forged in U.S.A. stamped on other side.
- 18mm Mac combination wrench, stamped Sabina Ohio.
- Craftsman 2 sided open wench, 5/8 & 3/4 raised panel, stamped 44582 and -VV-.

- S-K stamped 7/16 combination wrench, Forged in U.S.A.

And finally, an authentic Cresent brand number 2 Phillips head screwdriver. Made in U.S.A.

They are worth whatever someone is willing to pay and that varies. The Ratcheting wrenches are perfectly adequate but Old tech and not too desirable because of that. absolutely nothing wrong with using them however. (I have that same set bought new back in the day)

I don't have ratchet Model No's memorized. Pics? if RHFT those are great ratchets,but you wont retire on them..

All the wrenches are decent quality and worth keeping and using.

Nothing there will make you rich..

You have over 1200 posts, is this really a question you have to ask?

Nothing there of much resale value,as others have said. But they'd be a nice addition to my "loaner box" hand box that gets all the tools I find or acquire in my travels that aren't the quality I want in my truck or roller. Don't lose any sleep if they get borrowed and a piece or two is damaged or lost.

Why do you want to know what they are worth? Not to be insulting to you or your dad, but none of those tools are exactly high dollar. I have a few of those ratcheting wrenches. They are ancient by today's standards.

If you want to get rid of them, maybe try to find a younger family member or neighbor that could put them to good use. If you simply want to make a profit, then do your own homework and look at selling prices.

Aren't you a professional fleet mechanic? I really hope you are not serious with this post.

One would assume, that someone who makes a living with hand tools, like say a mechanic. Would know an average value of what they went for.

What does knowing the value of a used Craftsman ratchet from the 80s have to do with knowing how to rebuild a transmission?

SK..........those tools are probably worth more to you than anyone.........just for the sentimental value. Hang on to them.......they are your Dads tools. One day, you will rediscover them and realize why you kept them.

One note, though. I've seen a LOT of "vintage" tools in the last few years but have NEVER seen one of those screwdrivers. That one is pretty sweet!

They don't have much if any sentimental value. My dad was never handy and we never worked on any sort of projects together. He has them all just sitting out on our ping pong table in the garage unused and is going to trash what I didn't grab (Chinese stuff).

I just grabbed them because they may or may not have had some monetary value and shouldn't be melted down. Since they have no real money value, I am going to clean up the matching 3/8 and 1/2 ratchet and re-lube them and give them to my son who is at least showing some interest in tools.
