I'd think he could go to HD or Lowe's and sell his stuff to passers-by. We have local flea markets where he could vend the stuff, but it seems time is of the essence, for this unfortunate fellow. I think the big box store would run him off eventually, but maybe he could sell some of it for gas money, on his way out of town.

If you are able to load it all up into your vehicle to only throw it out while driving down the road there is something wrong with this picture. I could see if he had to leave and had no way to take it with him. Take it to a pawn shop, donate to goodwill for the tax write off, something. Maybe it's the new boyfriends tools that were found when he returned home early one day. Never know.

I wouldn't be so quick to assume that it's a man that posted the CL ad. I've known a few women who would likely call someone a c*nt if they were angry enough.

Conversely, it could be the c*nt actually is a woman who likes to turn a wrench. I've known a few of those as well.

Come to think of it, most of those in the second group were also in the first. :)

Yep, a pawn shop or an auction house will pick them up, if you didn't give a **** about them you would leave them behind.

1500 in new tools and a top and bottom box? That has gotta be Harbor Freight tools in a real cheap box.

$1,500 in Harbor Freight tools would be, like, the entire store.

I'll keep an eye out for a big rig dumping tools on the way home from work today.

This is absolutely amazing. A guy posts a link to a questionable CL ad and you geniuses have already got someone pegged as an idiot, determined that the poster and the EX are lesbians and that the tools and box are HF. Ever wonder why internet information is not overly reliable?

I thought it was the wife throwing out the tools up until I got to the bottom of the post. Is kind of baffling to throw out your own tools... unless of course they were actually her tools and she was the handy one haha

Seems to make sense to me. Wife, now ex, wants them as part of the
settlement to screw him and he won't let her have them.

I always like the CL ads that threaten, "If I don't get X by {date}, it all goes (to the dump, to the scraper, down the drain, etc.)" OOOO! I'll run right down and get the whatever now! I don't want to see you do that! ("If I don't get $500 by tonight, I'm throwing it all out on the highway" - where he/she gets $0. Makes sense to me.)

If it's in the divorce settlement that she gets the tools (unlikely, unless she's the main breadwinner), then why would he get rid of them and thus risk getting a contempt of court charge?

The whole thing is a joke/gag. No one's going to buy a ton of tools and then sell them for next to nothing or throw them on the road. He would simply take them with him to his new place or put them in storage or store them at a friend's garage.

The dude is probably going to sit outside with a cold beer and watch for idiots slowing down looking for tools. :)
