I stopped at my parents' house yesterday and was talking garage/tool stuff with dad, when vises and GJ came up. He has 2 home vises, a stout Polish 6" and a blacksmith's post vise. He then mentioned he had another old vise somewhere, long mothballed, and that I could have it if I helped him dig it out of their garage.

of course I was instantly excited.

Anyway, here is my new vise: Columbian 505-M2. 5" jaws. weighs i'd guess 70 lbs. opens and closes smoothly, looks barely used.

on a side note, my dad was happy. he has no need for another vise. and mom has been getting on him about downsizing his collection. it was of mutual benefit. thanks, dad :)

thanks guys, I don't mean to come off as a snobby rich kid...far from it. it was funny imo that i struck up at least 4-5 conversations with my dad specifically about vises and he didnt remember he even had it til this last time. he didnt remember when he got it, and ive never seen it...probably bought it before i was even born.

I'm thinking evaporust and paint.
