French Cleat Organizer Wall System

I'm starting to implement a french cleat storage system. I've installed two rails of cleats made from leftover 1/2" plywood. Storage system will mainly be used for woodworking/general tools, but there may be a need for heavier storage later on.

Just wondering if anyone had any tips/recommendations on the concept from personal experience. Biggest thing I like about it is the ability to relocate items...Is 1/2" plywood stock sturdy enough or should I consider upgrading to 3/4" stock?...Thanks for any info.

1/2"will carry all kinds of load. are you 45° them or just 90°

Looks good! Did you do that on multiple walls?...One thing I'm trying to consider is how to maintain consistent spacing on the rails so that the components can be moved from one wall to another (i.e. in the case of a component that hangs on two or more cleats)

Thanks...I Did the 45° style...Just kind of seemed to be a cleaner, more efficient way...Saw that style in a magazine years ago & have been wanting to try it.

Use spacer blocks in addition to a level when mounting the rails to your wall. I used scrap 1x3 or 1x4 pieces to keep spacing consistent. that way you can move things anywhere, even the heavier items that use 2 rails for hanging.
