If you need extra strength buy the one piece made german ones, if you need modularity buy the facom one since you can change the bit to switch to another size, just be careful that the s.236 holder covers sizes from 6 to 10mm (or 1/4 to 3/8) and the s.237 covers sizes from 11 to 19 mm (or 7/16 to 3/4).

What are you using it for? Gearbox drain plugs?

If so, Snap-on make a special low-profile 3/8" drive 17mm hex for them. If it's hub bolts on VAG cars, you'll need something a bit more stout.

If it had to be German or French, i'd say Hazet.

I can vouch for strength on the Hazet. I used the 19mm to remove a very large (over one inch in diameter) threaded freeze plug on the engine block of a car that was 25 yrs old at the time. I had it attached to a breaker bar with a 6 foot black iron pipe cheater. It did its job and nothing broke.

Gearbox Drain Plugs. I had one I ordered on a whim from Napa eons ago when I needed it...can't find it and need a replacement.

You are correct. I was under 1/2 sockets and did not see the part.
Called my SO rep and it's there...on website, it's under motorcycle/transmissions, etc.

I'm not quite sure what series I have...I both both their PalmControl in 3/8 as well as their CDX lineup. I tend to grab these 1st before the Matco's I have

AutomatiquE, what do you think of Facom tools? I think that their ratchets are great.

Stricht8, i am very disapointed about Facom in general. My father has got old Facom tools from 70's. Wrenches were very beautifull, similar to Hazet in term of finishing. At that time Facom's tool were very famous. Nowadays, as many people know, Facom is part of Stanley. A few years ago i bought a lot of Facom tools : everything is more or less crapy, with a low technicity and a high price. Screwdriver's blades (Bost made) and punch pins look to be made of chocolate. very fragile ! Recently i saw their ratchets, 1/2", 3/8" and 1/4". What i can say is that they all are shorter than germans Wille, Hazet or Gedore. IMHO they're less powerfull. As i said, i'm very disapointed, so from now i buy only German tools wich are, in my opinion, still made with a lot of "passion". Best regards.

Thanks for your insight. Good to hear the perspective of a Frenchman.
