Hey guys. I have a waterfurnace geothermal system that I need a new thermostat for I think. My girlfriend shuffled over to it this morning to adjust it and sent a strong jolt of static electricity to it. It shut off but turned back on when I removed the unit from the wall and reconnected it. Now, however it won't stay where I set it. I set it at 73 degrees but it immediately goes up to 95!! Also, the backlight stays lit and a couple other wonky things. Unless any of you have any ideas of how to fix it, I guess I need to replace it. Problem is I am having trouble finding a unit that doesn't cost $$$ that is 3 stage heating and 2 stage cooling. I know next to nothing about HVAC !

Without knowing what you have other than a 3H/2C heat pump stat you might take a look at the Honeywell TH6320WF1005. Its 3H/2C and wifi and should be just over $100. Be sure to check that it supports all the terminals you are using.

best is to replace it, easiest is to replace it with one just like the one you have...that may cost a bit, but will save you a service call, installation problems, wondering whether it will work - etc.

You might call the installer and ask what the newer version of the one you have is, and will it swap out like you want.

Replacing with a generic box store unit will not be the way to go. You have a great system, don't cripple it with junk
