Not a lot of updates, but I certainly do have some projects waiting on me to find some free time.

As badly as I wanted the aluminum ProSlat slatwall, I am a sucker for a good deal. I found someone relatively local selling a 4' x 8' setup in white, new in box:

ohc=jmn-GwiJQaQQ7kNvgGXIwsv&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-1.jpg

ohc=S_03aRuHJ1cQ7kNvgGcDAZ1&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.jpg

Dude had purchased one too many packages, but here was his setup, to give you an idea of the white:

ohc=Y_ASNkfdoR8Q7kNvgFuE-0r&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-1.jpg

Ended up paying just $85 (retail is $215+; again, I'm a sucker for a good deal), and he even threw in an extra white panel. So until I decide I'm OK spending $499 for the aluminum option, this'll do. We've had a pretty busy September and October looks to be just as, if not busier (family commitments and soccer for both boys), so not sure when I'll get around to this. My goal is to keep an eye out on Black Friday/Cyber Monday for deals on accessories/hooks/etc.

On the car front, the ship date for my Dinan bump stops (for the M340i) kept getting push backed, most recently, to October (I had ordered these in June), so early last month, I had gone ahead and cancelled that portion of the order with ECS. My plan was to then just roll with the Dinan springs and OEM bump stomps because I was sick & tired of waiting.

Then, as luck would have it, 2 weeks ago, I stumbled across someone else relatively local selling both the Dinan springs AND bump stops, brand new in box, for LESS than I paid for just the springs. Talk about a Marketplace score!! Better yet, I still had just under a week left in the return window for the springs I had purchased from ECS, so those were shipped back last week. The springs/bump stops:

54021982298_8732f567b8_c.jpg

I'm just happy that I've been too busy of late to install the springs, otherwise, I would have had to pass up this deal. Now I need to look at my calendar and just pick a date to get this installed.

And for yet another Marketplace score (I'm on fire lately), I found someone 30 minutes away selling a barely used Obsessed Garage bucket package. For those in the know, this setup (ridiculously) retails for $330+. Guy was asking just $140, and I was not about to pass that up. So I'll be selling my Leno's Garage bucket setup:

And using this moving forward:

On a related note, here are some photos of a recent wash:

Projects for the fall/winter (mainly for my own edification):
  • M3 cooling system overhaul
  • M3 stud conversion kit
  • M3 Powerstop drilled & slotted rotors (Z23 Evolution Sport Brake Upgrade Kit)
  • M3 paint calipers black
  • ProSlat wall
  • M340i springs
  • M340i repaint front bumper and fill license plate holes (and maybe PPF)
  • X5 Stealth tow hitch (I've had it in the garage for over a year...was going to install it last fall until I hurt my back)
  • probably more I'm forgetting...

And my Marketplace heater continues....scored this QuickJack 7000SLX on Marketplace earlier this week for $1000, and he even threw in some additional items that weren't advertised in the listing. Like the Truck Adapter kit that retails for over $200 and brand new QuickJack wall hangers, so it was an absolute steal. That said, it still won't work with the M340i, unless I turn them sideways (and go from passenger side front jack pad to driver side front jack pad...and same w/ the rear jack pads). But my plan is to buy the QuickJack frame extension kit come Black Friday which should allow me to lift the M340i normally.

Congrats. They make working on cars in home garages so much easier. Your marketplace finds are stacking up. I just ordered those barrina lights for the new house. Hope you still like them, otherwise I'm going to blame you lol.. So may projects but they were on the Amazon Deal Day sale, so ordered them.

Man your on a roll. I got the smaller one last year new at home Depot during Black Friday sale. Took them 3 times placing the order before I got it. Had to have it shipped to the store as the shipper kept saying it got lost during transit. I want to my local HD and I just brought my Go Kart caddy and rolled it home on that.

Thanks, man! I'm pumped. Going to make the cooling system overhaul on the M3 a much more enjoyable project, for sure. And I told my wife that I wish some of the good luck I've had with Marketplace of late would flow over to my job search. Been trying to move on from my current company (of 18+ years now) for a while, but nothing but bad luck on that front.

 Fair enough!! I still really like them and have no had any issues with them since installation. Pretty sure you'll be happy with the purchase!

Right?! You just never know with Marketplace, but you also have to be willing to drop everything (within reason) and drive for the right deal.

Glad you finally got that sorted out and love the mode of transporting it home!

Brought the M340i to the dealership this morning for an oil change (I normally do my own oil changes, but since it's still under CPO warranty, my client advisor whom I'm friendly with suggested I have the dealership do it) and my plan was to work remotely from the waiting area. But after speaking with my CA buddy Luke, he had other plans for me.

We were catching up, talking family and careers and then vehicles. I mentioned to him that I hadn't yet had the opportunity to drive the new BMW M2...and not 5 minutes later, I was out driving this:

54072679072_cc46021d23_c.jpg

It truly is the modern interpretation of the E46 M3. It's the perfect size and has oh so much power!!! And after spending around 20 minutes behind the wheel, I'm pretty convinced it'll be my next daily driver.

But that ain't happening anytime soon. The M340i isn't going anywhere!

Love the Quickjack mate, the jack points on the M340i are pretty annoying tbh. It's what's delayed me getting a QJ myself (still) as want a lot from the lift, not just for the M340i but also smaller euro cars such as my Peugeot 205. Yours looks perfect for most options.

I can't get to grips with the look of the new M2, I love the gen 1 M2 - I'd like one in the garage as a track car, loads of very serious and very fast domestic drivers have em' when I go to the Nürburgring for my annual 'try not to crash and financially ruin myself', so that says a lot.

Yep, they sure are! But being able to go sideways from jackpoint to jackpoint was enough for me to pull the trigger. And like I said, I'll eventually pick up those frame extensions.

Fair enough!! I love the Gen 1, as well...but the new M2 really is a beautiful machine, especially in person. Even the grilles on the M3/M4 have grown on me. But to each, his own.

The Nürburgring is definitely on my bucket list. One day!

Good hearing from you and hope all is well on your side of the pond. Cheers!

How do you like the spoiler on the M340i? Bought a dravit grey one "for my wife's car" earlier this year and love it so far. Have been looking at some OEM'ish looking spoilers and AA does look like a great bang for the buck. The mixture of performance, handling, and comfort is hard to beat but its the first BMW we've had so hopefully it stays reasonably reliable.

New lights are installed!! And they are BRIGHT! :devilish:

I was going to install a dimmer, but I don't think the old lights (that we decided to keep in place) are dimmable, so there's that. Honestly, I think it'll be just fine. If I find it too be annoying after living with it for a bit, I'll remove the old lights, myself and install a dimmer. Super happy with the quality and color of the Barrina lights.

Had to move the vehicles out of the garage for the electrician, which meant the M3 got it's first startup of the year a bit earlier than anticipated:
Did your electrician say that the Barrina lights are dimmable? I don't see ant specification that says these are dimmable. After seeing them on last night, I think my wife might like it if they were lol. My buddy was also asking so I started looking. Not sure what would happen if I put a dimmer switch on it (flickering? shortened life?)?

Love it! Had the same spoiler on my first M340i, as well.

It truly is the perfect daily driver. Dravit grey is a great color!

I bought the lights, he simply installed them, but looking at the product detail page now, it doesn't appear as though they are dimmable, after all. Which, honestly, is not a big deal. I've grown accustomed to them at this point, so don't really see any need for it. Still very happy with them, but long-term, I'd love the OG linear fixtures for a much cleaner look. But that's very low on the priority list!

For shits and giggles, I just looked back at your early posts in this thread. How far things have come in 8 years. I'm jealous of your depth and height. With 20 ft depth, I'm trying to plan out the best placement for cabinets that still allows for walking around vehicles. It was fun looking back at your 335 days, and your early journey into pressure washing and OG. It's been a great follow (y)

Wow, man, honestly, thank you for that! It's been a while since I've gone back thru my thread, but you've given me some motivation to do so soon. I appreciate you (and whomever else) for following along these last few years. My garage (and vehicle lineup) has come so far, but I still have big plans to continue improving it and making it even better and more efficient.

You rock, dude!

Thanks to @TX4runner , I decided to take a bit of a trip down memory lane. Figured I'd share some of the highlights from past and present setups (garages/cars/etc.) that I never really thought to include prior. Hope you don't mind the oversharing of photos, but I feel like some of you may enjoy it as much as I am. There may be a few duplicates below from earlier posts in this thread, but oh well.

Granted one of these wasn't mine (the E46), but I've clearly always been a BMW guy:

Just a month or two after buying the E90, and literally about 150 feet from my house, I had a near collision with a deer driving home one night. Luckily I avoided the deer...well, luckily for him, because much to my dismay, I met up with a utility pole, instead:

Got my car back roughly a month later. Figured I would try to make lemonade out of lemons and took the "opportunity" to upgrade the front bumper to the Pre-LCI MTech front bumper:

Also installed the BMS intake and Cyba scoops:

I think that about covers it. Got lots of work to do in my garage, but no time. It'll all eventually get done and documented and I'll share it all as it happens.

The only notable thing of late is that I did something I've wanted to do for a while. I've got a mish mash of sockets/ratchets and wanted to replace that all with a quality, matching set. I could have gone with Harbor Freight, Kobalt or Craftsman, but did some research here on GJ and Tekton seemed like a great option for my needs. So far, I've picked up 1/4" and 3/8" sets. I'm waiting for Black Friday to grab a 1/2" set.

I like that all the sockets are 6 point, to reduce the risk of rounding off nuts/bolts. Also going to grab some of these come Black Friday to keep them properly stored/organized:

Well, it certainly has been a while, hasn't it?! And a lot has changed (the cars and garage are all the same, don't worry). I left my company of 18+ years and started a new job in December, so I've been pretty busy onboarding and learning the new EHR software system that I'll be supporting and haven't been spending nearly as much time in the garage/on the cars as I'd like...winter wasn't helping much, either, let's be honest.

Oddly enough, back in October, I entered one of those pointless "like/share/add to your story/etc/" giveaways on Instagram from Liqui Moly. I ended up winning this hat signed by Cody Walker (Paul Walker's brother) and Tyrese Gibson, which was pretty cool. I've got it on display atop my cabinets in the garage now:

Got my new Tekton sockets all organized and sorted using my new Westling rails:

On the M340i front, I picked up a new Dinan carbon fiber engine cover and swapped that in:

Also scored a sick deal on some Dinan strut braces, to go along with the engine cover:

Local detailer was advertising a $90 winter special for an exterior wash and short-term paint protection (probably some ceramic soap), so we took my wife's X5 in for a much needed bath and interior detail (these boys make a mess of the backseat):

I also picked up this "E46 M3" brick (generic legos) set from Petrolbricks:

Also, as my boys continue to grow, we are looking for more family activities to do with them. We hike occasionally, but figured biking could be another thing we can all do together. I was in need of a new bike so figured now would be the time to grab something used but in good shape and a good candidate for future upgrades, if I was so inclined. With that in mind, I began my search for a hardtail mountain bike and settled on this Marin San Quentin 2, which I found about 45 minutes from my house:

54302285983_fcb93a236b_c.jpg

54302272006_63c4344e69_c.jpg

54302705590_978427580f_c.jpg

Other than being a little dirty and the dropper post sticking a bit, the bike's in great shape. My buddy offered to tune it up for me, so we'll see if we can get that done soon, or else I'll drop it off at the local bike shop and let them do their thing.

And while I don't have any photos of the install, I had a local shop FINALLY (I say finally because I've had it for over 2 years sitting in the garage...blame my back injury!) install the Stealth Hitch on my wife's X5. And I scored a cheap 4 bike Yakima rack off Marketplace that was literally 0.5 miles from my house. So just need to find a bike for my wife on Marketplace, and we should be good to start hitting up the various bike paths in and around our area.

Got the M3 up in the air, ready for some much needed TLC:

54278436555_0ef6c87c7c_c.jpg

It's finally time to overhaul the brakes on the M3. New Powerstop drilled & slotted rotors, carbon fiber brake pads, Motorsport Hardware stud conversion kit, and painting the calipers black was next on the docket (excuse the blurry photos, not sure what is going on lately with what seems like 1/2 of my uploads from my phone to Flickr, but they look 100% fine on my phone, but end up looking blurry/grainy on Flickr and when sharing from Flickr):

I also threw on 20mm H&R spacers up front to try and get the wheel more flush with the fender. It helped, but think there's too much camber so I'll need to take another stab at adjusting that, though I already thought I had as little camber as I could...we shall see.

Also ordered the Radium oil catch can kit for the M3, which I have yet to install, but should help with any oil blow by with the CSL style intake:

54373557229_92084c3f9f_m.jpg 54373596448_70329bc10a_m.jpg

Also performed my annual oil change on the M3 and this one was a bit more memorable than most, and not in a good way. Stripped the oil pain drain plug, which is a common issue on these and the E9x M3s. Luckily the bolt is in there good enough and the oil leak is barely a drip, but I'm hoping (weather dependent) to drive the car to a local Cars and Coffee 3/30 at a very reputable BMW Indy shop about 45 minutes north of me and then leave it there for the helicoil repair, which they've had great luck with in the past and have performed on many cars. After that, the next bit of service the M3 is overdue for is replacing the water pump and thermostat, along with the radiator hoses. I have all the parts, but not sure it's a job I feel like undertaking, so I'll probably be bringing it back to this shop later in the Spring to get that work done.

Garage updates:

Not too much here, but some useful changes did occur. First off, in an attempt to try and keep as much cold air out during the winters, I swapped in new garage door hingers from Green Hinge Systems:

54369573776_69cedd5bf0_c.jpg

54368726467_f8b50b057a_c.jpg

54369972875_c2fabb8a2e_m.jpg 54369785999_e670e7d5e8_m.jpg

I also ended up taking down my air hose reel and selling it. The only thing I've used that for was for filling tires, but with the Milwaukee M18 inflator, the air hose reel was rendered useless and was taking up valuable real estate. So once that was gone and I took down my fastener organizer, I was able to push my Husky toolbox over and up against the NewAge cabinets, giving me room to store my bike on the wall with a SteadyRack. Bear with me as the garage is still a bit of a shitshow (needs a proper spring cleaning/organizing):

More M340i updates. I picked up the AWE Diamond Black tips, so I removed the Infinite AutoWerks tips that were previously installed and sold those off:

I did snap a few bolts while installing the new AWE tips, and just received some replacements, so I still need to get back out there and adjust the tips a bit more...they weren't 100% lined up properly and my OCD is killing me, as a result.

And I FINALLY lowered the car, and would you guess it, using more Dinan parts!

Can't wait to get the HRE's on now that the car is at the proper height. Figure a few more weeks, once the overnight temps are in the mid to high 40s, I'll swap them on. Then give her a proper detail, because she hasn't been cleaned since November, I believe. Yikes!

Well, I think that's all for now. Still haven't done anything with the ProSlat...debating on getting another section of it so I can go 8' high instead of just 4', or selling it (still in the box). Not sure at the moment but will decide soon, just need to clear EVERYTHING out of the garage so I can clean/organize and go from there.

Ohhh, almost forgot, I scored yet another Marketplace deal on some Kies Motorsports carbon fiber mirror caps.

54409622383_9c025b73c8_c.jpg

54408507042_2881ae893c_m.jpg

And I ordered a carbon fiber rear diffuse from RW Carbon for the M340i that is still in the box. Just need warmer weather and a clean car before I install. Here is what I ordered:

bmwg20027.jpg

bmwg20027_img2.jpg

bmwg20027_img3.jpg

bmwg20027_img4.jpg

Last thing that I'm just remembering as I type this...looking for someone local to respray the front bumper. If you'll recall, I had a **** ton of rock chips. So I'll have whoever does it also paint the grey trim under the headlights gloss black to match the rest of the trim on the car, fill the license plate holes, and paint match the orange reflectors. Once that happens, the mirror caps and diffuser are installed and the HREs are back on, the car will pretty much be where I want it!!

Cheers!

The dent on the rear driver side fender of the M3 is all I see. I know it must be killing you. But seriously, they both look good. I've been watching too much on YT, and now I want a CF Intake also. You score soo much on Marketplace, it's amazing. Good luck with the spring organization.

You just had to point that out, didn't ya?! Ha. Car has its fair share of dings, which I'll address at some point. Possibly when I figure out what I want to do with the paint. The front clip needs a respray due to the billions of rock chips, and there are some areas with light surface rust that need addressing, so I'm not doing any PDR until that all gets sorted out.

Appreciate the kind words. BUY THE CF INTAKE!!!

Sorry. I'm that kind of online friend. :p I have you a hard time about the alignment of your center cap to ///M sticker on your wheels. What did you expect.

And regarding the intake. "Satan I rebut thee". lol You've cost me enough money in the last year. I need to do some maintenance things first before thinking about that. I need new valve covers and headliner before I go after the intake sound.

Also going to grab some of these come Black Friday to keep them properly stored/organized:

Very next post. March 2025

Got my new Tekton sockets all organized and sorted using my new Westling rails:

I almost called you out back then, but I knew you wouldn't last until Black Friday haha!!

Good progress on the cars and garage. I have those green hinges as well. Also jealous of all the CF.... the vette is going to start getting sprinkled in it as well soon!

Ha....I know, I've been slacking!

In my defense, I reached out to Westling directly and they provided me the black friday promo code ahead of time, or else I would have waited!!

Thanks, bud. Can't wait to see the 'Vette in person.

HREs FINALLY on...and also found some time Saturday to install my new RW Carbon Fiber rear diffuser. Fitment isn't quite as good as I was hoping (I'd give it an 8 or 8.5/10), so I reached out to them directly, as they have a "fitment guarantee" that I'd like to learn more about. And I swapped out the Infinite AutoWerks quad tips for proper AWE tips. Here are some photos of all the above:

OK, heard back from RW Carbon and evidently I need to remove the rear bumper, insert the tabs from the diffuser as far as they can go, drill pilot holes in the tabs and then drill a screw into the holes as close to the bumper slot locations as possible. I was hoping to get away without having to remove the bumper...alas.

But will be worth it for better fitment.

M3 heads off to Wile Motorsport today to address the stripped oil pan drain plug and partial cooling system overhaul (radiator hoses, t-stat, water pump, high-temp o-rings).

Amazing progress! (I can't believe that I read through 36 pages and 8+ year of posts?)

I'm a fellow Bay State resident, (Bridgewater) and I also have a double car garage. Your progress has inspired me to get my act together, and get busy with the spring cleaning.

Cheers!

Thank you for the kind words and for reading through all my nonsense!

You aren't too far away at all. Reach out if you ever have any questions or need anything. And be sure to start a build thread if/when you start to work on yours!

As some of you may recall, we had a few trees removed from our backyard last summer, near the shed (post #1399). Well, earlier this spring I cleared out/prepped that area for new grass. Raked out the rocks/sticks/etc. and leveled the area with some quality top soil. Threw down Lesco Sun & Shade Park grass seed and here is the progression, which I'm pretty happy with:

As for the firewood that you may have noticed disappear from this area, I found a budget option for firewood storage on Pinterest:

54499513479_53fbab6b8e_c.jpg

My first attempt barely lasted overnight, as I woke up the next morning to a fun surprise. The entire pile of wood had tipped over. So I learned my lesson and spaced out the cinder blocks a bit further and she's still holding up well:

54519814638_1ae47aa80f_c.jpg

On the vehicle front, I finally got around to installing some Kies Motorsports carbon fiber mirror caps on the M340i. I had been holding off on installing these because of concern about breaking the mirror glass, but contrary to popular belief, you can 10000% install these without removing the glass. You simply need to point the mirrors as far down as possible. Took me all of 15 minutes, taking my time, to get both installed:

Forgot to mention this earlier, but as many of you may recall from our basement decor, I'm a bit of a Star Wars nerd. We took our boys to LegoLand in Florida back during April vacation and on the drive from Winter Haven,FL to Tampa Int'l Airport, I pulled up eBay and made a bit of an impulse purchase on something I had been eyeing since it was released, but hadn't wanted to spend the necessary $ on:

(the condition of the box is precisely why I made the purchase..it saved me nearly $100)

54487898065_83a69a4984_c.jpg

54508386884_b1a1aec592_b.jpg

I have been slowly putting it together since, setting up shop on our dining room table, and really taking my time to enjoy the entire process. The instruction manual (which is actually more like a cool, coffee table book), is nearly 500 pages long and legit must weigh over 10 lbs. Here are some progress photos for any other SW buffs:

54494897392_f44f515bda_c.jpg

54565737911_189d16d47f_c.jpg

In addition to enjoying the progress on the build, my new patch of grass is continuing to grow in quite nicely:

After we got quite a bit of rain a few weeks back, I finally found the source of an intermittent leak we had dripping down onto our master bathroom ceiling. The flashing around the roof vent pipe had a gap in it, allowing water to get into the attic and cause this:

54540326146_4b360bb14c_b.jpg

54540514699_456b172acd_b.jpg

And the culprit:

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href=" https://flic.kr/p/2r6ogRn "

The leak has since been addressed and we have someone coming out Friday to repair the ceiling. Luckily, some scraping/mud/tape/paint should be all it needs.

Lastly, I gave the M3 a bit of attention and installed a Radium Engineering Oil Catch Can that I had purchased months ago, but just had sitting in the garage:

54567449200_d9166d4c90_c.jpg

54567304569_b0c69f4fdd_c.jpg

I also decided to do something else I should have done years ago. Swap out the lower headlight trim for trim without the headlight washer cutouts. Found a used set of trim on eBay in my exact color in what appeared to be great shape, for a reasonable $60, I took the chance and was pleasantly surprised that they were in just as good shape as advertised:

54572653502_eba9fa9d13_c.jpg

54573704989_7181c99e5b_c.jpg

I had also noticed that the sliding cover on the rear ashtray had broken off a bit, whether from age, my boys sitting back there, or a little of both, I decided to swap it out with a new OEM piece, as well as the surround/cover portion that was on my To Do list back from when I refreshed the interior with all new OEM pieces. Haven't installed them, yet, but the parts arrived from FCP Euro last week.

Cheers!

Got the ProSlat slatwall up (accessories currently en route):

I am moving the vacuum over to the other side of the window, where my Maxshine dual polisher holder originally was mounted. I'm getting rid of that and moving the polishers into one of the NewAge closets to free up room for the vacuum/accessories. Also think I might grab a muffler for it off Amazon to quiet it down a bit:

With some help from a good buddy of mine, the carbon fiber front lip is finally back on the M3 after I removed it a while back. Hopefully it's on there for the long haul (yes you can see the tape in the middle of the bumper/lip, but you literally have to be at that level to see it, so I'm fine with it):

Also got the bathroom ceiling addressed...came out great:

Lastly, the Falcon continues to take shape (this thing is HUGE):

All caught up on your thread mate. I love your E46 M3- makes me want another. Prices are on the up though, I bought mine for £7000 back in 2010. They're twice that now easily.

How are you getting on with the QuickJack? I am finally about to pull the pin on one but not sure which to get as they have updated their range! Is confusing the hell out of me.

I want it to lift the M340i G21 but I also don't want a long one that won't fit smaller cars too, so will probably do as you have done with the extensions. They don't come up at all second hand over here so will have to go new, which is fine as I'll likely keep them forever.

Damn we're getting old. Getting excited about our lawns coming in 😂

Cars, garages, legos and lawns all looking good over there!
Ain't that the truth?! :ROFLMAO: Probably going to need a bit more leveling of that area, but I'll deal with that in the fall or next spring.

Thanks, buddy...appreciate the kind words!

Thank you, sir!!

The QuickJack is great, but I'm constantly on the hunt for a different model that I can use with my M340i in the standard/normal orientation so I can ditch the extensions, AND that works with my M3. Once I find the right one, I'll turn around and sell mine and it should hopefully be a wash or close to it.

And I couldn't agree more with how confusing they are with their models and constant nomenclature changes. It's brutal. Best of luck, cheers!

Got my vacuum setup dialed in. Not as clean as OG, but for a fraction of the cost, I'm very happy with how it turned out! For anyone wanting a vacuum hose reel but not super excited about paying the price for a Cox reel, the Rockler reel is a pretty stout alternative.

As for the layout, I wasn't about to mess around with cutting open the walls and adding blocking, so that's why the vacuum is mounted the way it is. If my OCD can handle it, then it's fine, ha!

The ProSlat slat wall is working out quite nicely. I've been able to get a bunch of various items hung there, and it just looks so much more well organized than how it was previously, where things were sort of mish-mashed around the garage.

I would like to pick up some solid shelves for the wall at some point, but as you can tell, I still have plenty of hooks/storage available, as is.

Not too much else going on lately outside of this. A few smaller car updates, but those can wait for now. Been vacationing as much as we can with the boys and trying to soak up the rest of summer before it's gone.

Cheers!

All caught up, great thread and glad everything is good for you.

How are you finding the performance intake you bought over OEM? Does it mostly just create more spool noise?

I had my car remapped recently with the OPF (EU shite) and cat still in situ, although its not loud enough for me so will get the OPF removed and a 200 cell sports cat fitted. We have something called an MOT here, checks cars emissions as one of the yearly Gov requirements and it would fail with a downpipe- can't be assed to swap it out every year either. OPF isn't an issue, that can be removed though and a sports cat will pass for 5 years or so.

20250612-165205dd.jpg

I was dead happy with the figures though for stage 1 as it was on 95 RON. 98 or 98 RON is available at most garages here but I didn't have it in at the time.

20250612-181859.jpg

Still need more noise and lowering slightly.

As always, appreciate you taking the time to read thru my nonsense.

As for the intake, I absolutely love it. A bit more induction noise, but where it really shines are the "turbo noises". Definitely hear the turbo spool up much more, and you get the "blow off" noises, as well. I'd HIGHLY recommend getting it, and from visiting your thread recently, it looks like that's exactly what you are planning to do!

Car looks fantastic and continues to make me jealous of the fact that we don't get the touring here in the states. Take care, man!

Man have I been MIA lately. And when that happens, usually there have been some changes going on. And that is certainly true now...don't fret, the M3 is going nowhere. As for the 2 daily drivers....we'll get to that in a bit.

Life's been hectic of late, but nothing most people aren't already dealing with. Now that I'm 13+ months into my new job, I've been very busy of late, as has my wife with her recent promotion. Then you pile on basketball (games & practices) for 2 boys, karate 1-2x week, and free time gets scarce really quickly.

On the M3 front, I continued the overhaul of the front end by swapping in brand new indicators/blinkers, new OEM non-fluted fog lights (with Lamin-X) & fog light surrounds:

Back in September, I met up with the one and only @Mr. Roboto and a few of his buddies for a Cars and Coffee....later that day, Nick and I grabbed some BBQ before heading out for a spirited drive. Was great to finally meet each other in person and catch up over some delicious food and cold beer:

Then in October, I took my boys to an end of season Cars and Coffee that was organized by the Audrain Car Museum in Newport,RI, where they both got to sit in dad's dream car:

Let's circle back to the daily drivers. With my wife's commute, her X5 was getting up their in miles and was starting to need some work on the drivetrain and a few fluid leaks (because BMW). Local dealership had quoted us around $2000 for all the work. Figuring I'd rather not spend more money on an already higher mileage vehicle, we started shopping around for a replacement. We had some free time one evening where the kids were at my parents house so we started driving around to the usual suspects: Toyota, Honda, Mazda, etc. I had a list of SUVs that I wanted to show her and have her test drive. That was until we drove into the Hyundai dealership and she caught sight of the new Palisade. I know, I know...Hyundai. But she usually doesn't have visceral reactions to vehicles (some exceptions...she's always had a thing for the BMW X6), so I knew she liked it!! She actually told me we could stop looking and that this is what she wanted. So then I started researching the hell out of the new Palisade (a little tough with an all new vehicle).

We both agreed that the Calligraphy trim was the one we wanted, so I then had her rank her color preferences while I scheduled test drives of the v6 and the all-new hybrid, knowing I was all but sold on the hybrid due to all the YouTube videos I had watched speaking very highly of this setup. Fast forward to November 22nd and we drove 2 hrs to Keene,NH to trade in the X5 and pick up her #1 color choice, Cast Iron Brown Pearl over black:

54941962965_dfe6efee89_c.jpg

54943044864_19b33d7c04_c.jpg

This thing is fantastic, it really is. 3 rows, has 10x the features the X5 did, rides super comfortably and looks Range Rover-esque, at least from the rear 3/4 view. We plan on having it for a while so I was able to negotiate down an extended warranty thru Hyundai for a pretty cheap price. The dealer kept lowering the price and I kept saying no, and we finally agreed on a comically low price for it, I couldn't pass it up.

We've already put nearly 3000 miles on it in just over 2 months and other than one visit to the dealership for leaking oil (stupidest reason ever....goddamn dip stick wasn't fully inserted), she's been flawless.

So how does that affect me?! Well, my boys have been complaining for a while now that the backseat in the M340i was a bit snug. Not only that, but with all the modifications I've done to the car, it was starting to get to the "preciousness" level of the M3, where I'd be very picky on where and when I'd choose to drive it, which sort of defeats the purpose of a daily driver. Not only that, but with my new job, I'm fully remote so I work from home 99% of the time. I was barely driving the car which was leading to some battery/electrical issues because these newer BMWs have so much damn tech, the batteries are under constant draw.

Oh, not only that, but I got this fun bit of news when I took the car to my local mechanic for an oil change:

54947821204_3cfa666530_m.jpg 54947820929_597c79b473_m.jpg 54947821234_a0b2782d3c_m.jpg

These f*ckers built a nest under my gorgeous Dinan Carbon Fiber engine cover, unbeknownst to me. Luckily the mouse/mice hadn't gotten thru the wires themselves, just the insulation, but this was not an ideal situation. The shop taped back up the exposed wires and cleaned out the nest for me, and sent me these photos for my records.

This mouse attack was basically the kick in the *** I needed to start looking for my next daily driver. I had recently really been eyeballing the new Toyota 4Runner, I think they're fantastic looking. We test drove one as a family, so I could ensure my boys had their say in whether or not the back seat was too small on whatever vehicle I decided on, and wouldn't you know it, the back seat on the 4Runner was pretty damn tight. I almost made the executive decision to still buy one, but I gave it a few days and realized it would be foolish to move on from my M340i with a small back seat to only buy a brand new SUV with a small back seat.

So the search continued, but I had a backup plan the entire time. One specific vehicle I'd loved since its release, and one we had casually looked at for my wife back at the end of summer, a Ford Bronco. And because my automotive reputation has me moving on from daily drivers like tissues, I decided to lease this next vehicle, that way I can decide whether to buy it out when the lease ends, or go in a different direction.

And so I present to you Bertha, my 2025 Bronco Badlands w/ Sasquatch pkg:

55033785293_860a0c556f_c.jpg

55033755118_105b44450a_c.jpg

With the brutally cold weather of late, I haven't taken many photos of her, yet. These were taken shortly after picking her up from the dealership. But I did take the boys out during the recent snowstorm for some fun in the Bronco:

As for the M340i, I was hoping to sell it with all modifications to make things easier on myself, but after weeks of minimal traction and lowering the price, I decided to return her to stock and sell or trade her in that way. The fact that I was trying to sell it in the dead of winter sure wasn't helping, but a luxury/enthusiast dealership in MD actually reached out to me on Facebook and after some back and forth over the course of a few days, sent me an offer I deemed acceptable.

She was picked up on 1/22/26 by the transport company:

55056937343_9fd75ab679_c.jpg

55055845817_552ebfb763_c.jpg

I'll for sure miss the car. It sounded amazing and was super fast, but it was time. I've still got the M3 as my fun car, so I'm looking forward to having something big and rugged that I don't need to drive in the same manner that I did with the M340i. It's fun driving over things instead of around them!!

And the HREs fit perfectly in the back of Bertha:

55072192376_f393e6c239_c.jpg

As for the aftermarket parts on the M340i, I had already removed the AWE exhaust, so I was able to sell the exhaust and the HREs separately to recoup some of the money I missed out on when selling the car. And now I have a healthy little "play money" fund to put towards new wheels for the M3. I'm thinking either BBS RSs or BBS LMs, which looks spectacular on the E46 M3 chassis, but need to save up a bit more. Hoping I can make this happen before the start of car season, though.

In the meantime, I ordered a partial carbon fiber trim kit from EuroConnex, which includes the dash trim and shifter surround. I'll buy the armrest/door trim at a later time. This is the kit I ordered, which has a 10-12 week wait time:

Think that about catches you all up on where I'm at these days. Hope you all are well, cheers!

It was great to finally meet up! Hope to do it again this summer.

Congrats on the Bronco! That's going to be a sweet daily. Looks like you're already making memories in it with the kids. I hope Bertha treats you well  Also glad you found something nice for the wife as well.
