Thanks for the kind words!

Regarding your feedback on Swisstrax, do you have their angled edge tiles? If not, I wonder if those would alleviate the issue you're running into. If you do, then I guess I should be prepared to deal with broken tiles, haha.

This is what I'm referring to:

swisstrax-interlocking-tile-a504-031-400-2-64_1000.jpg

Yeah, I have those but didn't help.

The problem is incremental height of the tiles on top of the transition. Tires just want to push the tiles.

The best combo I've found is removing those edge pieces and using a .5" tall reducer. By removing the edge pieces, the tiles are now 2.5" back from the transition.

Just something to think about when the time comes.

Taller 1" rubber ramps arrived this morning and I'm going to try those with the edge pieces.

How often does your town do meter swapping. Ours at work had rust and looked much like yours maybe a bit worse but it was leaking. We reported they did squat about it but this year gas company came around to swap meters and their sniffer tool went off. Showed the report from 8 months ago and guess who Columbia Gas. Makes me feel safe.

The spray bead you use works phenomenal.

Good question, I have no idea. I'll have to look into that. I was at my last house for 5 years (just hit 3 years at the new house) and they never swapped out the meter there.

Yeah man, Bead Maker is legit. Anyone on the OG FB group or elsewhere who says otherwise is simply doing so to try and stand out. E.g., "conforming to non-conformity" just to try and be different. I say that because the stuff clearly works. No if's and's or but's about it.

No definitely, I appreciate the heads up. Curious to see if the taller ramps help out. Keep me posted!

As I previously mentioned, I spent a good chunk of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening getting the M3 dialed in for a local Cars and Coffee. This consisted of the following procedures/products:

  • Lightly pressure wash engine bay
  • Spray APC and agitate with brush
  • Rinse engine bay
  • Dry engine bay with leaf blower
  • Cover engine bay plastics with Meguiar's Hyper Dressing
  • Adam's Wheel cleaner
  • Adam's Rubber & Tire cleaner
  • Strip Wash
  • Iron-X
  • Nanoskin Autoscrub (all panels and glass)
  • Adam's Car Shampoo wash to get all residue from previous steps off
  • 1 layer of Jescar Powerlock
  • 2 layers of Collinite 845
  • Coat wheels with Bead Maker
  • CarPro Perl on tires
  • Wolf's Nano Trim Coat

I'll give the car another wash this weekend and top it with Bead Maker. Very happy with how the car came out, swirls and other paint imperfections aside:

On Friday I picked up a used set of 20" OEM Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude wheels to throw on my wife's Limited. Her wheels have a ton of oxidation/corrosion under the chrome finish and I'm sick of looking at them. I was debating between the Overland wheels and the Altitude wheels, but she preferred the black of the altitude wheels (as did I). They'll probably need to be repainted, but the set (tires have good tread left) was a good price and all in, I should still be way under the price of buying these things brand new or in like new condition:

Oh you know what, I've seen others have issues with rubbertrax from Swisstrax:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/obsessedgarage/permalink/2283330495249007/

So is that what you have, Rubbertrax? Maybe that's the root of the issue. Based on that post, I think having Ribtrax there would be the best option. Something I'll have to keep in mind.

Step 1 of the builder addressing the torn up area of my yard has occurred today. A reminder of what it looked like prior:

And after today:

I assume they'll hydroseed that patch later today or early next week, per the builder. So hopefully I'll have grass there very soon.

Also, this popped up today in my Amazon Photos app, "memories from this day 3 years ago". My garage looked like this only 3 years ago:

I texted my wife those photos this morning and told her that if our garage looked like that today, I'd probably have a panic attack! :lol_hitti

I know compared to many other builds here on GJ, mine is no big deal, but to me, it's come a long way. And it's not done yet! Cheers, folks!

It's definitely come a long way. Three years ago you had a bit of a mess, now you've got an M3 :D

 hell yes!!

Went to a Cars and Coffee at the Elms mansion in Newport,RI on Saturday. Was hoping to run into Jay Leno, as he typically attends these when he's on the East Coast (he has a house nearby), but no luck. Here is a sampling of the cars that were present:

I've had a busy week or two. Got the Accord dialed in for the summer and looking better than the day I drove it home from the dealership (please let me know if you guys have any issues seeing the photos...Flickr's camera roll is down for maintenance/upgrades so I'm trying to share photos slightly differently than I usually do):

Looking good. I need to dial my Grand Cherokee back in, but I might put it up for sale soon.

Thanks, man!

Oh yeah? What are you thinking of replacing it with? I see you're also selling the J10 soon. That thing is really cool. I don't envision you'll have much difficulty finding a buyer for that.

Interesting. I sometimes envision daily driving a BMW wagon and think it would be really neat. Curious to see what you end up with.

I love my moms F31. Id get a sedan but I occasionally need to haul stuff. The GC is great but its more space than I need and the wife has a Tahoe and my dad has a Sierra if we need to haul more. The wagon seems like a good fit, and wagons are cool.

It's funny that you bring that up because my neighbor (a car guy) and I were just talking the other day. Most people don't like wagons, but car guys like wagons. It really is true! At least for the most part.

That Accord is a mirror! Thank God I don't have the talent, tools or patiencie required to detail a car like that. I wouldn't drive them if they looked SO good!

PS: S54 swapped E46 Touring is where it's at, just saying :bounce:

:lol_hitti Thanks, man! And trust me, Ronin, I get it! But I don't do any sort of paint correction (yet), so my cars still have swirls and light scratches. That said, the detailing adds protection to allow me to drive the cars more with greater peace of mind! ;)

And hell yes, S54 swapped E46 touring is the goat!! Love where your head's at.

Put the (almost) finishing touches on the OEM Competition wheels. Was debating on leaving the ///M decals off, but I'm glad I decided to add them:

I'm only now realizing I may have installed them upside down. I installed them this way based on a video I had found where the guy indicated they were supposed to face the same way as the "BMW" text on the face of the wheel, which made sense to me. But upon further investigation, looks like they may be upside down.

Luckily, I had ordered a set of 8. So I may end up ripping these off and installing the remaining 4 decals the correct way. Or, I leave them as is, because I like how the "BMW" text and ///M decal read in the same direction.

Next up, new center caps. And then spacers, which will come with brand new extended lugs, because the lug nuts on the car now are a little beat up. Will be nice to have everything on the wheels looking brand new!

Interesting. On my E92 Comp wheel the wheel specs are all on the inside. The ///M sticker though is oriented opposite yours.

I went to an event at the BMW dealership this past Wednesday and noticed that on all the newer cars, the decal was oriented opposite of mine, as well. Go figure!

I’ll probably end up switching them soon, but not in a huge rush.

Hope all is well!

Last Wednesday, I attended the M Town Tour at the BMW of Warwick dealership. I was able to drive (unsupervised) a bunch of their newer M cars, as well as the all-new M850i convertible. The highlight of the day for me was the 600hp M5 Competition, followed closely by the M2 Competition (I will own this car one day).

Full list of vehicles I drove:
  • M5 Competition
  • M2 Competition
  • M850i Convertible
  • M4
  • X3 M40i

I was able to drive each vehicle about 10-15 minutes, with mixed highway/main road driving. The cops were out in full force that day, so I had to be smart. That said, I did push each vehicle when I was in an area where I knew cops had nowhere to hide.

Here are a few photos I was able to capture in all the excitement:

After the event was over, I ran over to Harbor Freight Tools. On the way, I found a great spot for an impromptu photo shoot, since my M3 (which now felt awfully slow, for some strange reason) was pretty damn clean:

Those new M5's are insane aren't they?

Dude, insane may be an understatement! I wouldn't be able to drive that thing on a daily basis. I'd lose my license. The amount of power that car puts down is unreal. And the sound....oh god the sound. :eyecrazy: Intoxicating!!

Now THAT must have been a blast! Properly hooning the car on a track. My goal is to do the M School for my 40th birthday. Only 4 years to go!

Id say line up the m in the centercap BMW with the M sticker and leave them!

And honestly, that's what like 10% of me wants to do. But the other 90% of me can't leave it, knowing it's wrong. Why am I getting so much more **** the older I get?!

If youre not in the CCA you should be. I got to do that for free. It was part of an event at the CCA Foundation museum that was only $60 for the weekend. It wasnt the full m school but I got about 15 minutes in the M5 and probably 30 in M240i's. It was awesome.

Yeah but just Friday and Saturday. I already have my room booked in the host hotel and plan on spending a lot of time in the Dinan Beer Garden.

Ill probably take the 02 but Im holding out hope that the e9 will make its first appearance.

Ha, that's awesome! I didn't even know there was going to be a Beer Garden. If I do end up making it, I'll be doing the same thing.

Can't wait to see the E9 progress.

Yep. Often someone sponsors the beer garden. I haven't looked this year but Spatan has sponsored it prior. And since no DE's at this Ofest, it can be later nights!!!
Look for the Road Monkey's and you'll find my group.
