Your already getting better at "photoshop" lol. If it helps any, your still way better than I am at photo manipulation. The accents do make it look better.

Rubber always ages on BMWs, we recently replaced the rear window gasket, and last year replaced the fron window gasket. Makes the car look soo much younger without the cracks.

What happened to the top of your rear seat? The seam coming apart?

Haha, MS Paint 3D for the win!

It really does make such a big difference. But really only we as owners will truly appreciate it and notice it. I feel like almost each time I got into the car, I noticed the cracked rear seals. It's so nice having those replaced.

Yep, I bought it that way. Probably going to wait until the Spring at this point and have a dude out in CT who specializes in BMW interiors rewrap my entire back seat, so it all matches. ***** to have to do something so big for such a small imperfection, but the location of the stitches makes it really difficult to repair.

I couldn't find the exact same windows you used, so I stole them from your image, and tidied everything up a bit. Don't expect a work of art, lol!

Oh, I was just about to post and you replied. There you go, with the driveway and lawn fixed.

The last one is just because Photoshopping is free :lol_hitti

Shouldn't the dormers be a little higher up the roof? Aren't they normally not at edge? That might mean you would want them a little smaller. And I agree, a few more ///Ms in the driveway adds to the vision.

Yes, probably. But for my purposes, this is all I need to help me visualize things. First step will be to get proper drawings from a contractor and go from there. But like I said, we have a ways to go before this potentially becomes a reality. Basement is first up.

Ha, yep! I'd be happy with non-M models, too. Would love to add an E30 and/or an E28 to the stable at some point. An E34, too!

As you can tell, I don't do Photoshop but I was thinking about an earlier picture of the whole house and recalled two gables on the front facade.
attachment.php

To tie the look of the garage to the look of the house, I thought a third gable might tie it together.
attachment.php

I tried a two-gable look and thought maybe a hip roof over the middle bay to really mimic the main house but decided to quit half-way to that probably too busy look.

You're all thinking about this wrong. Here you go. As you can tell, I too am a Photoshop master.

One thing to keep in mind when the time comes, wherever you do the swoop in the driveway in front of the 3rd bay, make it long enough so that you can park a vehicle in front of that bay without obstructing the other 2 bays. Having an extra outdoor spot to park without blocking your "daily driver" bays is very useful.

LOL!!!

Very cool build!

My advice is to go to a high lift door at least on the one side where you may put a lift, and use a side mounted motor. When they built our house they screwed that up and mounted the door like your despite my requests to tuck it up the ceiling. So I had to hire a guy to re-do it. $1200 but its needed to get the height I wanted.

Cool build and congrats on the young family it a lot of work but it is rewarding... My boys are 3 and 5 now and it sure makes it exciting to head home each day!

I initially thought a two-gable look would work, like you, since it would mimic the look of the house. But I agree that it appears too busy. I really like the look of the single, third gable. As does my wife....so that look is probably in the lead. Thanks for your input and spending your time in mocking up those images. That's why I love the GJ community...a bunch of people interested and invested in helping others!!

:lol_hitti This is amazing!!!

And yes, I agree 100% I would definitely leave more than enough room to park a car in front of that third stall. Great point, Roboto!

Much appreciated!! And yes, that would be another goal if and when the time comes. The third stall would have a high lift door and wall-mounted opener to allow for a 4 post lift.

That's frustrating that they couldn't follow your requests to build the way you wanted it, but glad to see you got it taken care of!

Yes, it sure is. Especially the young one...he is trouble! :lol_hitti But there's nothing like it...the best feeling! I've now got a 4 year old and a 21 month old, so not too far off from you.

Cheers!

Forgot to share these from way back in April. A coworker of mine who also happens to live one town over from me is pretty involved with town politics and the local newspaper. She had just had her kitchen redone and someone from the paper wanted to write an article about her project. They asked if she knew of any other home improvement projects, ideally, not kitchen related (since hers was already kitchen-specific). Knowing that I had just gone through phase 1 of my garage overhaul (paint/cabinets/tv/etc.), she offered up my name.

After speaking with the reporter, here is the article he published about my garage. Mind you, I'm not sharing this to toot my own horn. My garage pales LARGELY in comparison to most of the other builds I see on here. Regardless, I'm proud of what I've been able to accomplish with mine thus far and still have even bigger plans for it moving forward. And I wanted to be able to share my story and hopefully have it appreciated by some.

Now, ignore the fact that for whatever reason he starts just about every paragraph with my last name, I'll blame that on the fact that he writes 90% of the entire paper and is a pretty busy fella.

Also, I wish he would have asked me about the photo layout, because I would have arranged things differently. That said, here are photos I took of the article to share with my GJ brethren (those of you who are also OG-fanatics will appreciate it that much more):

Congratulations on the article!
I'd frame it and hang it on one of the garage walls. In a year o more, you'll look at it and see how your garage has progressed even farther than what is has in those pictures!

PS: I think I'm gonna dream with your last name :lol_hitti

Thanks, Ronin!! My wife suggested the very same thing. I have two copies of the article, so I think I very well may take your (and her) advice. Thank you for that!

Congratulations! Framing a copy for display is an excellent idea. I chose to frame one part of the article on my garage but 17 years has changed the newsprint from off-white to brown. You might consider scanning the article and printing it on better quality paper before framing it.

Thank you, Bob!

That's also a great idea. Definitely going to look into this solution.

Nice on the article man! Garage and M3 are both looking stellar!

 Thank you!!

Awesome, If you can get a digital copy you can get it printed in acid free so it doesn't break down.

Here was a great E30 M3 alternative...https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-bmw-2002-45/ was my buddies

Another good idea. Nice to hear from you!

Sick car...good for your buddy with that $60k sale! That 2002 looks incredible.

Congrats on the article, I would frame that for sure. I had a reporter come by and do a story on my garage a few months ago but nothing was ever printed.

Scored a fantastic deal on a brand new OEM BMW car cover for the M3 (Noah fabric). Been scouring craigslist/facebook marketplace for the past few months, as I didn't want to spend the money that a brand new cover retails for ($180). Found one up near Boston earlier this week. Ended up timing it perfectly so that I could grab the cover after my father and I checked out a 1998 Jeep Cherokee (would be my dad's winter ride) in a nearby town.

Sure enough, the cover was as advertised (which almost never happens these days). And the guy selling it was only asking $59 (odd number?!). I ended up giving him $60 for meeting me at a police station not far from the Jeep.

So now the M3 is properly tucked away and protected for the winter  :

/\ Nice score. Looks like the same material as one i had for an old dub with the License plate window as well. Used to love that era of Cherokees, both the reg and the Grand versions.

Right?! Yeah, the quality of the cover is fantastic. Probably overkill for a garaged car, but one can never be too safe! ;)

Agreed on the XJ's. My dad had one 4 or 5 years ago and has wanted one since. He drives a Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (that he bought new in 1995) in the summers and has wanted another XJ for the winters for a while. I found this one on FB Marketplace about an hour north of us. It lived in North Carolina from new until about 1 year ago, so there's no rust (which these are notorious for). Tons of miles, 255k, but a big folder of maintenance items. So many parts have been replaced and the 4.0L inline six is a bullet-proof motor. He ended up buying it and we are probably going back up to drive it home on black Friday.

From the listing:

Absolutely immaculate 1998 Cherokee Sport.
NO RUST OF ANY KIND!!!
This Cherokee has been well taken care of and loved all its life and it shows. I have extensive receipts for repairs since second owner from 2003 to now – inch thick folder.

Don’t let the miles scare you – 250,000 -- This vehicle was driven and meticulously maintained. Lots of new parts on vehicle.

Drives perfectly – everything works. Like new Michelin tires.

11/19 New exhaust manifold & gasket
11/19 new sway bar end links
11/19 New sway bar bushings
11/19 New air filter
11/19 – new oil and filter
11/19 New coolant and flush
9/19 New spark plugs – new plug wires
5/19 New water pump – new distributor – cap and rotor
4/19 New rear brake drums – shoes – wheel cylinders – hardware
11/18 – New neutral safety switch – Oil and filter –
new thermostat & temp sensor
9/18 – oil change 3 light bulbs changed
7/18 Change transmission fluid – Oil & filter – Serpentine belt
4/18 Repaired split wiring on drivers side door –

That is certainly what we all aspire to find when we search for a used car. Maybe also coincidentally the reason my used cars sell rather quickly :)

Nice I drove those while I was in Saudi back in the 90's. They were fun and the 4.0L was a nice torquey and semi quick. I have a cover like that from California Car Cover and was upset when M3 was out in the sun a few days under it the UV from sun left the writing in the stitching on the paint. Was not a happy camper. But keeps dirt and dust off of it good.

That is really something else about the article! Congrats, too cool! It will be cool to show your kids some day when they are older and can appreciate it.

Also, I am super jealous about that XJ your dad scooped up. I had a 1998 Cherokee 5 speed that I sold with 250K miles that I regret selling every day. I've actually been passively looking for another one over the last year or 2. I've looked at a dozen or so in person during that time frame and have not been impressed enough with any of them to purchase one. Odds are, if I ever do pull the trigger, I will end up buying one from down south and trailering it to NH. As you know, it is incredibly difficult to find a rust free jeep up here.

Mind if I ask how much he scored that one for? PM if you don't want to post it up here. Also, if you ever need any advice, I pretty much rebuilt everything on my old one and kind of became an XJ fanatic when I had mine, so don't be afraid to reach out if needed.

Here is (was) mine. Also... yuck. My house has changed so much since this photo was taken, I can't even stand to look at it haha. The garage is still studs inside! I sold it in spring 2013 so that was 6.5 years ago.

You got that right. And yep, same here! Makes a huge difference, for sure.

Ugh, I would have been pissed beyond belief, as well. I've heard nothing but good things about this cover from the E46 community. That, and the M3 will be in the garage at all times.

Thanks, man!

And yep, you absolutely nailed it. These things are typically rust buckets, so expanding your search zone is definitely a good idea.

I don't mind at all. He was asking $3400...my dad ended up getting it for $3100. And you can be sure that I will absolutely reach out to you if and when anything comes up. Thank you for the offer!

Love the Jeeps. My dad and I are about to submit our XJ Wagoneer to Bring a Trailer.

Nice...good luck and I hope she makes a killing on BaT!

Figured some of you might get a kick out of my BMW Hot Wheels collection. As it stands, I've got 34 different BMW's on my desk at work:

49163750566_773351fc90_c.jpg

Anyone else still a kid at heart?

Also, it blows my mind that Hot Wheels, specifically, never made an E46 M3. Arguably one of the best looking BMW's ever created.

And speaking of kids, my 4 year old created this with his magna-tiles the other day. I assure you, no adult direction or supervision took place when he created this. Look familiar?

Elon would be proud of your kid, that's for sure.

 When I showed my son a picture of the Cybertruck and compared it to his creation, he was shocked!

I had this exact Ford Raptor on my desk when I owned the truck. Was a mirror image of my actual truck.

Just a few. Lol. A few hot wheels and a couple larger BMWs and Cobras. Including R/C M3 that matches my car that my team got me a few years ago.

And that’s big and clean desk.

Haha! A matching R/C is sick! I have a Traxxas Slash Raptor that I need to bust back out sometime soon.

Yeah we have large desks at work. We work in low wall cubicles (the divider is really low...the wall that my Hot Wheels are sitting on is actually the height of the divider) that have one long, continuous desk that actually wraps around about 7 or 8 feet behind my back, where another employee sits. We've got plenty of desk space, most of which isn't used. Actually, there is so much room that some buildings that are overcrowded actually triple up these sections.
