I believe it is just called an outside corner post.

Yep, corner post or corner guard

And after initially thinking that the only way to replace the corner posts was to remove all the vinyl siding, YouTube came through in a big way (work smarter, not harder!):

This will be coming up on my To Do list once life is back to normal and I can quickly get in/out of Home Depot. Definitely something that can wait.

Couple of updates from this past weekend. Angel eyes are finally installed, after they've been sitting on my workbench for about two months. Install was pretty straightforward, other than the occasional hiccup (which really goes for anything that you're doing for the first time). Light output is excellent! I didn't take many photos during the install process. When I'm in the middle of something, I typically just want to get it done. But here are the photos I did take:

I also swapped out all the beat interior bits for all the fresh OEM parts. Here are some shots:

49708756008_7e53590294_c.jpg

49709286216_2d34708eb0_c.jpg

Again, just wanted it done, so didn't take many. I'll take some interior photos of the car when it's nicer out and she's not in the garage, so I get some better lighting. But the interior definitely feels refreshed. Once I can vacuum the interior, I'm also going to put in the new OEM floor mats I picked up. Then the interior will just about be complete.

Oh and I got the bluetooth module installed. Talk about a gigantic PIA. The biggest issue was figuring out a spot to hide the module. Since it was decently sized, I couldn't just tuck it behind the radio. I had to remove the center HVAC vents and controls before I could figure out the best way to mount it. A few busted knuckles and scratches and scrapes later, I can finally easily stream music to my car and use the steering wheel controls, as well. The only thing I forgot to do before buttoning up the interior was to plug in the microphone for the bluetooth calling. Not sure I'll do this, because I don't make that many calls on my phone (I HATE phone calls...text messages suffice 99.9% of the time, am I right?!), but I'll hold onto it in case I decide to do it down the road.

After I finished all the above on Saturday afternoon, I backed the car out of the garage and let it get to idle, while reinstalling the Swisstrax that I had removed for the suspension install. My 4 year old helped me out with stepping on the tiles to click them back into place while my 2 yr old napped and my wife sat on the neighbors lawn and drank wine while socially distancing with 2 of the lady neighbors!

Here are some photos I took outside the garage. Man, I am loving how this front end is coming together:

49716527896_f43dc428a8_c.jpg

As you can see in that last photo, the rear driver side still needs to come down a bit. I'm going to do some measuring this week and tweak the ride height. It's close, though!

Since the car was already in the driveway, once my wife returned from her afternoon beverage sampling, I took the M3 for a quick romp down the road. Let her get up to normal operating temp, then returned home before the rain came. After sitting for basically 4.5 months, she ran flawlessly. Man I absolutely LOVE this car!

49709096868_b88ab1389a_c.jpg

Next up for the M3 (aside from the suspension tweaking) is removing and reinstalling the front lip. If you recall, I wasn't 100% happy with how I initially mounted it. It can definitely be better and more flush, so in addition to using fishing line to remove it, I bought the following to hopefully get rid of all the leftover residue/tape before remounting it:

71LsrvVKOuL._AC_SX522_.jpg

414Ca96Xl2L.jpg

Lastly, figured I'd take this opportunity to show off my ongoing sticker collection. Since I wanted everything in my garage to be clean looking, I figured mounting them inside one of the cabinet doors would be the best solution.

Great choice in mods!
Making me miss my E46 more and more. :)

I bet it was really nice to get those interior parts replaced.
Keep up the good work! Thanks for sharing with us.

Do you have an intake on that thing?
I put an AFE intake on my second E46 and the sound was glorious.

Hey, thank you! I really appreciate that.

And you have no idea. That was one thing that REALLY bugged me the second the car arrived. I may replace a few more items, mainly the rear ashtray and armrest surround that it attaches to, but we'll see.

At the moment, the intake is stock other than a Bimmerworld elbow:

49090087601_52156feddc_c.jpg

But your post really has me considering one now. I realize they're mainly for aesthetics and noise, but I do have some leftover "M3 play money" burning a hole in my pocket. Hmmmmm.....

Did you go with the oiled or dry filter? And do you have any links to your old E46? (was it an M3?) Would love to check it out, thanks!

I went with the dry filter. Yes sound and Aesthetics mostly, but Ooooh that sound!

I had an 03.5, then an 04. Both were M3s. The 03.5 I kept stock. The 04, I modded pretty good.

There is a long story to go with the 03.5 car. I purchased it in 07, had some fun with it and sold it to a friend in 07. Well, he is building a Pro Touring Camaro and needed it gone and a friend in Texas wanted it (2018). (69k miles on the car. slick top, manual seats)
He sent me the money for it and I went to pick up the car. Kept it for a week or so, then put it on a truck to ship to him.
He had the car for about 6 months and truly loved the car. A guy wasn't paying attention and slammed into the back of him totaling the car. :( Here is a picture in my garage before it went to him. (my daughter in front of it) https://flic.kr/p/2hsDNTd

The 04, I put KW suspension on it, AFE filter, Carbon Boot lid, Enkie Wheels, etc... It was a really fun car too. Ended up selling it to the guy I purchased the 03.5 from. LOL Here's a link https://flic.kr/p/2hsEHVg

Sorry if this was too large of a post. If you want, I can cut all this out and PM you all this stuff instead of cluttering your thread.

I think you may have me sold. Probably gonna order it tonight, LOL. And ***** to hear about your 03.5. Both of your M3’s looked clean!!

What are you driving these days? And please, that’s not too long at all and you can absolutely keep that in there. I’m not one of those guys who get all **** hurt about “thread jacking”.

Thanks for the info and the photos!

Yeah, the 03.5 was a sought after car. It was sad to know it's gone forever.

I'm on my 5th M3. 2- E46s, 2 - E92 (Supercharged) and now an F80

If you want to check into my instagram, I follow you already. Same screen name on here.

Here is my F80 after a ceramic coat.

Would you look at that, I already follow you! Damn, 5 M3’s. #goals. That F80 is damn ****. Good work man!

I might reach out to you closer to the end of my current lease. E90 M3 and F80 M3 are both on my shortlist for next vehicles.

Did you coat the car yourself? I’m too nervous to try coating something myself.

F80 ALL DAY LONG for a daily. ALL DAY!
The first E92 I drove, I thought something was wrong with it. Have to really get into the power band to get moving along. That V8 sound though...
After that drive, I decided to get one with a supercharger. Great move, but a centrifugal SC doesn't help much on the bottom end. Still a great car.

Video of me coming up the mountain in my first E92

But for Daily driving/fun car IMO you can't beat an F80. It's like a Jekyll/Hyde car if you get a DCT. The tuning in this transmission is better than any other DCT I've driven. Drive down the road like a regular transmission, then flick the paddles and immediately goes into intimidation mode. Really happy with the car. The customizing of the infotainment, drive modes and other things really sets the car apart from the E90/92 cars. Night and day difference.

I did not coat it myself. I have a friend that is a wizard with paint, so he came up and I helped him get it done. The hardest part is getting the paint perfect before coating it. You still have to know how long to leave the ceramic on before wiping it off. The worst you could do is leave it on too long and have to polish it back off and start again.

Well ok then, ha! Your E90 sounds great in that video. And it's nice to talk to someone who has owned both. I do like technology and comfort for my daily driver, so that's definitely a check in the "Pro" column with the F80. I plan on driving both at some point so I can compare and contrast, but also have a few other potential cars on my list. Genesis G70, Kia Stinger GT and BMW M340i.

One item where the E90 wins out over the F80 is price point. My M3 will be paid off by the time my lease on the Accord is up, so I'll have the money to get something nice. But would I rather spend less on my daily and have more "fun money" for both cars?! That said, F80's are starting to show up in the sub $40k range. I have lots of time to figure it all out, but need this goddamn COVID-19 hysteria to pass on by so life can get back to some semblance of normalcy. I want to test drive some cars now and start figuring out what my next vehicle will be.

I just realized I haven't gone through your garage thread yet. Off to go check that out now!

I'll swap out and sell the Bimmerworld elbow once the intake arrives to recoup some dough.

Also ordered a set of black anodized pedals (Pedal Haus) by way of IND-Distribution:

A few minor updates. On the home front, I finally got around to installing my OG approved Eley hose reel. I was sick and tired of spending money on ******, plastic Suncast (and similar) hose reels, so I got fed up and bought two Eley reels. One for the front yard hose bib and one for the back yard hose bib. I haven't installed the one in the back yard yet, but here is the front reel:

49746670833_687064da00_c.jpg

The fit and finish on this product is another level. WELL worth the money to not have to deal with plastic threads and fittings. Doesn't hurt that they come with a 10 year leak free warranty!

Also had my septic pumped for the first time on Monday. We had to locate the tank via the As-Built and he was able to find the right cover on pretty much his first try. Because the cover is roughly 5" underground, I already have a riser kit on the way to make future septic tank pumping that much easier. No more digging up my grass. My neighbors all have covers at ground level, but figures I don't:

49743639851_7452bc814b_c.jpg

Ran into this guy during the pumping process:

Guess my garage is now officially a 2.5 car garage! :lol_hitti

And lastly but most certainly not least, FedEx dropped this off earlier this morning:

That is parked wayyy to close to the Sunday driver hahaha. Yes thats interesting your tank cover was covered. Is that from the people laying the sod or the way it was graded? Mine and all in my neighbourhood have the access caps visible.

Yes it is....that's what having two kids with lots of strollers and bikes and scooters will do. You need to store everything as best you can. Once I can get the snowblower into the shed (hoping this weekend), that'll free up a bunch of room.

It's the way it was graded. Not the end of the world, but annoying, nonetheless.

Where are the install pics?????
Man that was some quick shipping!

Get ready for intake eargasms!

:spit: Ha, I wish I had the time and energy. Man, working from home along with my wife, while the boys run roughshod around the house is frying my brain. Today has been one of the worst days thus far, but they're currently both napping (we're lucky that we can still convince the 4 year old to try napping even though he's not in daycare at the moment). Even though they're asleep, I'm sitting at my laptop working and way too tired to make it into the garage. Maybe later when the young one goes to bed, but this might end up being a weekend project. So much to do, so little "free" time. /end rant

Sorry, hahah! OK, back on topic. Yes, shipping was incredibly fast. I can't wait to drive around with no music on, just enjoying the sweet induction sounds from the S54. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford a CSL-style intake, but that day is not today, so the aFe will do!

 Hell yeah, man! You can't go wrong with Eley. Hoping to get the other mounted over the weekend (among my 50 other projects on the To Do list). I see your NewAge cabinets have arrived. Can't wait to see them installed. The duct work turned out great!

Still have to finish the backfill, but I'm hoping to do that today with some topsoil I have in the shed left over from last summer. But I'm glad it's done and we won't have to dig up my yard each time we need to access it:

49767006156_931b867d76_c.jpg

And now on to more important matters. M3 content!

Since the kids were at my in-laws for the day, I FINALLY got around to installing the aFe stage 2 intake, as well as the aFe "Dynamic" air scoop:

As luck would have it, my in-laws dropped off the kids just moments after I finished up the install, so I have yet to even start the car with the intake installed. That'll change today at lunchtime. Once the boys are down for their naps, I'm going to go for a ride around town to see if the hype was legit!
I'm looking at you, @thetastelingers !! :lol_hitti

One last photo I took after finishing up my interior refresh recently. I guess I forgot to share it here, but it is on the "Gram". Car feels newer and cleaner inside with no more scratches on the interior compartments/center console/etc, along with brand new OEM floor mats:

Also, I was sick of smashing my forehead each time I walked out of my shed (still regretting not paying the extra $300 to have it built one foot taller), so I added a cushion by way of a pool noodle:
