Finally decided on a location to mount my final two upper NewAge cabinets. Because I have a TV mounted between my other two uppers, I had no immediate need (or location) for these two, so I had stored them in my basement until this past weekend. But let's be honest, we can always use more storage.

It all started from a conversation I had with a buddy of mine who mentioned to me that he was going to be adding a "slop sink" to his garage.

That got me thinking...(always a scary thing). Since I am eventually going to be running water into my garage (once this COVID-19 BS is behind us), I figured I could take this opportunity to also add a sink. Would be great to be able to wash my hands after working on the cars and/or yard work before entering the house. With that in mind, I figured I could mount my two uppers side by side on the shared wall behind my laundry room, then center the sink below them. Here is what the cabinets look like:

My buddy actually showed this to me, so I can't take credit, but NewAge makes a sink that would be a sweet addition, but not sure I want to spend the dough necessary ($683):

I'll probably get something more like this, stainless finish and a more friendly pricetag:

I also finished up the septic tank riser installation. Backfilled with fresh topsoil and Scotts grass seed:

We also had a rare child-free evening. My wife dropped them off at my in-laws yesterday afternoon and met up with some of her childhood friends for social distancing wine and cheese, so I had some me time! Took the M3 for a run through one of our favorite nearby coastal towns, Bristol,RI (you may have heard of it...their parade is the oldest 4th of July celebration in the country). It was starting to cool off and the wind was whipping, but I managed to take a few photos:

Good call on the sink, I think they are really invaluable in the garage. I would love one in my garage and even had a plumber come out before I finished up the addition to see how feasible it would be to add one. Getting hot/cold water lines out there would be easy enough, but the issue of draining the sink was the problem. It would have either involved a pump to send the drain back through the addition and into the house somehow (which would have been pricey and somewhat unreliable), or coming up with my own (illegal) way to either drain it into the ground or the woods behind my house, which obviously wasn't a great option. So... that ended my sink dreams. How are you planning to drain yours?

Septic cover looks good to. Where did you order that from? It's a good idea. My tank cover is buried under about 4" of dirt below my lawn. Every time I get it pumped I need to go out a dig it up.

Well that's an excellent question, and one I hadn't really considered yet. I was going to talk to the plumber to discuss options, but I'm wondering if like you said, a pump to tie back into the laundry room is an option. Guess we will see. It's definitely not the end of the world if I can't add a sink, but it sure would be nice.

Thanks, man! I picked up the riser kit from Wholesale SepticSupply. $115 for a 5" kit that includes everything you need.

/\ I agree. I also thought/wanted to add one, but it was the drain line that was the most challenging.

:headscrat I sometimes overlook things when researching....this is just one more example. ha!

That is something I truly wish I had in the garage, some water tie in. Sadly with a detached garage, running water and then trying to figure out drainage would be a massive and costly endeavor. Good luck with your research, curious to see how you put it together.

BTW I really like the placement of the remaining cabinets, I am in the same boat of trying to figure out where to put two more.

As am I! :lol_hitti

Thanks, man! Gotta figure out what I want to put here. Thinking of relocating my fluids here and opening up the other upper cabinets I have for misc storage. We'll see.

Don't think I ever shared this, not sure why. I'll blame it on the fact that it happened the night before we left for a cruise back in January and it slipped my mind after we were home. During a pretty intense wind storm that we had, some of the aluminum trim/rake ripped off the side of my house. I thought I had someone who was going to come and fix it, for a really cheap price (first red flag), but he kept coming up with excuses as to why he couldn't show up. And so after about the 3rd or 4th excuse, I cut him loose.

Well, I finally found someone to fix it. They came by yesterday and replaced the missing trim. The "before" photo was taken by my neighbor and texted to me:

49485892756_51bac400b5_z.jpg

and now this:

49809894907_4192ff57ac_c.jpg

49809040408_b4c279ec50_c.jpg

Not bad for $150 and roughly an hour of his and his helpers time. Mind you, I had two other quotes for this work. One for $250 and one for $550. Having said that, the replacement piece will probably rip off after the next windy day. That would be my luck.

Did a little something on Saturday since the weather was (finally) cooperating. Threw two car seats in the back of the M3 and went on our first family drive in it:

Stopped at my parents house to let the kids run around in the backyard for a bit. My dad is considered essential, so he still needs to go to work. And since he works at a plumbing warehouse with lots of trucks in and out per day, we decided we'd have to keep our distance from them. So, unfortunately, my kids haven't been able to hug/kiss their grandparents for well over a month. But we try to Facetime (oddly enough, they live 7 minutes away in the same town) them often and even hang out in their yard from a socially allowable distance from time to time. Took one shot of the M3 in their driveway as one of the neighbors stared at me, probably wondering why the hell I was taking a photo of my own parked car (if they only knew!):

49826681477_3955b88e4e_c.jpg

And the next house-related thing I'll be dealing with. Failing seals on the double-pane Silverline by Andersen windows (they're only 4-5 years old at this point). I contacted Andersen and am waiting to hear back on the warranty claim process. We have 3 affected windows:

Excuse the present lack of cleanliness when it comes to the house. Our house faces due North, so we get tons of mildew. We're scheduled to get an exterior house wash on Friday, which I'm very much looking forward to. We'll probably have to do this once every 2 years or so as upkeep, but it is what is is.

Lucky!

I could never do a car seat behind me in an E46.
TOO TALL!!!

Ha! I’m 5’ 10” and it was still a tight fit, and that’s with me pushing my seat up a bit. The seats aren’t staying in. It’ll be more of a special occasion type of thing. Besides, we don’t have enough car seats to keep two in every car. We only have one extra and that’s because my neighbor specifically got one for me from his buddy who was getting rid of a couple, knowing that I wanted to have some for the M3.

Shaun, I agree those pedals look mighty fine. Are you going to add a circuit to allow the foot well courtesy light to stay on while you are driving? Maybe programmed to just come on when stopped!

I think you’re on to something, Bob!

You'll figure it out I'm sure! Since you've got the sink planned for the wall that abuts your house, they should be able to snake a hole right into your basement through the foundation wall. If the elevations/location of the PVC drain in your basement work out, you might even get lucky and not need a pump.

Thanks for the info on the septic riser. Next time I dig it up for a pump, I am going to order one of these ahead of time and install it.

That's what it's all about right there!

Good call with tying into the main stack/ PVC drain pipe! That actually might work out well. Will have to talk to the plumber once he is able to come by and see what my options are, but the main stack is just about lined up perfectly should we snake down into the basement from where I envision placing the sink. Hmmm....good idea!

And yes sir. Family over everything!

Not sure if you guys recall, but back in January I had purchased a Cox Hose Reel for my pressure washer hose:

49450967338_00b170913a_c.jpg

Well, the mounting solution that I had seen teased on the OG Facebook Group months back was FINALLY available in the store, so I jumped at the chance to pick one up before they inevitably sold out:

Subtle OG Hex logo:

I also picked up a few items as part of the OG M5 giveaway, including the following (I will absolutely admit to being a fanboy, so back off!):

And hose reel mounted:

I need to do a few yard cleaning projects with the pressure washer before I install the hose onto the reel (it won't be portable after that point). I think once I have my detailing pressure washer setup in the garage, I'll buy a second cheap electric (e.g. another SunJoe or comparable) to use as the portable unit to clean around the house/yard/etc. They're cheap enough where this really isn't a big deal.

I also upgraded the rusty screw in my PF22 foam cannon with a stainless screw as part of my OG order. Something only I will notice, but looks so much better:

Before

After - notice I also swapped over to the new bottle design

I'm also in the process of servicing my lawn mowers for the season. Here's my JD D125 up on ramps for new blades (switching over to mulching blades and removed the bagger), spark plugs, oil and gas filter, and oil change:

And LED bulbs that I swapped in last year because, hell, they look cooler:

Some minor M3 updates, but nothing all that exciting. Picked up a 2005 BMW M3 Coupe/Convertible Sales Brochure in really good condition off eBay:

I also stole an idea from a fellow NAM3Forum member and swapped out the non-///M oil cap for an ///M version (which I didn't know was a thing until seeing his build thread):

49890875268_a5d53bf6fe_c.jpg

49890874653_6e32d7e821_c.jpg

I also took one more step in getting the suspension dialed in. I lowered the height of the rear driver-side coilover, as it was previously sitting right around 1/2" higher. After letting it settle for a day or so, I took it for a drive during lunch today to get it completely settled. Haven't checked measurements, but just by the "finger in the wheel well" test, I can tell it's VERY close. Once the rear is set, I'll move onto the front. I think I want to raise the front a bit to reduce some of the camber and get the tires a bit more flush with the fender.

During that lunch joyride, I stopped at my old stomping grounds which has been vacant for a while now (they're fixing it up and turning it into a more modern retail/business/lifestyle plaza instead of the "indoor" mall it used to be) and took some photos. Nothing special, just some shots with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Which reminds me, I really need to bust out my Canon 40D and get back into using that more (shoutouts to @mpower5266 for that):

I'd like to, yeah. I'm going to fill out the application this morning and see what happens.

I dont think I have enough followers, and I kinda like doing my own thing. But we'll see, I think my wash bay is going to get me more followers on Insta and I might do some videos.

Oh same here, but they did say anyone can join, not just people with 1k+ followers, so there is hope! I don't maintain a YouTube presence outside of watching a ****-load of content (mainly OG!).

But I am considering starting to add some M3 content, whether that's detailing/maintenance/modifications. Who knows.

Let me know how you make out. And yes, I think the wash bay is going to help you, as well.

You should. My instagram followers have almost doubled in the last 3 months so maybe. I did just break down and buy the damn M5 hat. :lol_hitti

Fanboy alert: :3gears:

Finally got around to hanging up my new OG banner. Excuse the clutter on top of the cabinets, that's temporary:

49898222107_4173ee10e5_c.jpg

49897395958_9fc603f106_c.jpg

Also hung the new MTechnic flag I picked up off eBay since my wife's stall was looking bare:

49897960051_34364874a7_c.jpg

Lastly, I adjusted the Motorsport flag that was already hung. I ended up using screws and washers to hang all 3 banners/flags, so that should help keep them straight and not fluttery when there's any breeze in the garage. Here's a wide-angle of all 3:

Was finally able to get my hands on a hammer drill from my old neighbor and get my second Eley Hose Reel mounted up in the back of the house. Man these things are STOUT! Highly recommend them to anyone considering purchasing. Stop buying cheap, plastic reels and spend the money. Do it once, do it right!

I also got around to a project I had been meaning to for a while. Cleaning the extremely dirty vinyl fence in the backyard with my pressure washer. Some before/during/after shots:

And lastly, I got impatient and wanted to see what the pressure washer hose looked like all mounted up on my Cox hose reel. I still don't have water in the garage (hoping the plumber can come out mid-June, at this point), or a jumper hose, so I'll have to remove the hose from the reel next time I wash a vehicle. But man is this sweet:

And gotta rep OG, of course:

And a few shots of the M, because why not?!:

I own a cheap electric pressure washer that puts out less than 1000psi. I’m assuming those guys are taking about not using gas units which are way more powerful. And you need to be careful with the nozzle you use.

Didn’t feel any different. LOOKED brand new when I was done.

better clear that shelf clutter before your OG card is taken away

Clutter?! On the stainless shelves? You’re crazy! Those are setup just like Matt’s would be. Gallon in back with the corresponding spray bottle in front of it. All nicely spaced out. OG spec!

Glad to see you out enjoying the M! Ugh, I need a fun car in my life hahah.

Grats on the OG affiliate too! At some point, I would love to pick up a few things from there. After I’m done with all these silly house projects, I want to get back to some proper detailing and want to get my setup more “dialed in”. Will use your link for sure. One thing I need ASAP is the new MTM hydro replacement bottle. I have the old one that tips all the time. Need to swap it for the wider one... Save me some time and PM me your affiliate link to that thing and I’ll order it (if that’s something you can do, not totally sure how it works)

Stupid question, what is the plug on the end of your power washer hose? Is it just an appearance thing?

I’m trying....took it out a few times this week, actually! It literally leaves a smile on my face every single time I drive it. It needs a wash, so hoping I can get that done sometime over the long weekend.

And thanks, man! That would be much appreciated! Yeah the new MTM bottle is a much better design. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can send you a direct affiliate link to that item. My link just brings you to the store, and then you’d just have to search for it and add it to your cart. I will say searching on the OG website works very well, so it should be super easy for you.

The plug is intended for those who have their hoses on a Cox hose reel. There’s always a little bit of water left over in the hose after disconnecting from guns and wands, so to help prevent any spilling or drippage while reeling in the hose, this quick connect plug can be added. Somewhat unnecessary, but also inexpensive, so I figured why the hell not?! [emoji23]

Hope you and the family are doing well!
